One way to get a young dynamic team is to take the guy that can add juice to offense no. one. But since isles will go bpa and take the safe route its all speculative at this point. Only so many buy-outs allowed so isles are still stuck with 11. Don't know what isles can get for 27, 44, 3, 6 if darche wants to move them? And what does 8 want as rfa and what do isles want to give 8? If 8 goes schaefer is the sure top pick. 13 should stay since he has speed for fast attack. Need more g scoring ability.
People around the league think it's odd that the islanders decided to hire 1st time GM and then not to hire experienced President of Hockey operations. This GM is all about the team he puts together because of his lack of experience. Immediately after they hired Dasche word around the NHL was that the team liked his business background in marketing and sales and graduating from McGill and his win now approach. I can tell you there has been more than a few eye rolls over that. People saying you hire a 1st time GM and what you liked was his business background in marketing and sales???
For Darche to be successful he must NOT be afraid of hurting fans feelings & get rid of fan favorites such as Lee,Barzal,Pelech,Pulock exct. Very overpaid & bad contracts. LL built this team with absolutely no youth & or speed
Gil this is the time to rebuild. Release all players 30 and over. Bring up the kids, take our lumps this season and next season we will have a top 5 pick, maybe get a Viggo Bjorch, not getting Mc Kenna. we could still get Niklas Aaram-Olsen or Ryan Roobroech. first line Bo as C…2 nd line. Misa at C, third line Ritchie at C and the forth line Beekman at C….add Jefferies, Maggio, Larson, maybe Berg and Gil. Next season Nelson, Finley and Eiserman, we will be in good shape really quick. Not to mention maybe Ehlers or Marner…skies the limit.
Pelech is the dman Islanders should move and has most trade value . Duclair is in Roy doghouse so he may need to be moved as well. Engvall played fine as a 4th line guy with Cizikas and Gatcomb.
Exactly! Be Patient! Don’t Rush The Process! Get Younger, Bigger, Faster, Stronger, Skilled, and Nastier! At the moment just my opinion only Horvat and JGP of the 30 club should stay for now! The younger, smaller, Disney on Ice players need to be traded or let Go! Pick Schaefer! Get Howard! Take those 2 first round picks in 26 and take the best at that position. A better Bridgeport is a must! All need to be Fired!!!! Bye bye Chris L and all coaches! Just me not interested in a guy who doesn’t show up in the playoffs in Marner! It's critical Darche rebuilds the scouting and development staff along with Bridgeport. This was a huge failure with Lou and many former GM's.
Good morning team! Gil, I'm positive there will be great struggles to transform this team. I'm also positive, strictly going by his past record, Darche will probably stop at nothing to get this team to be a legit contender on the ice. We have to understand it may take some time. He has got A LOT to clean up, but I do believe it's going to happen. Be patient, and watch the process unfold. We can absolutely critique Darche's decisions along the way. God knows we're all good about giving our opinions. By the time he has set this team up for success, and I'm hoping it doesn't really take too long, I'm confident we'll see excellence on the ice. I still can’t believe Lou gave up a 1st AND a 2nd round pick for Pageau who puts up max 40 points a season 😂 so glad we got rid of that idiot. Man kills every organization he is the GM of
Slow and steady retool. Not some crazy teardown. Good move keeping Roy but firing assistants. They should be his assistants. Not Lou’s. Go over the roster slowly. Meet with all the players. Don’t make any rash moves. Evaluate until the trade deadline. Then make some moves. Younger and lousy is no better than old and lousy.
I do not think we'll need a rebuild just on our prospects alone i kinda feel like this will be a nice little retool at least enough to get a good jump on things
