Please no Rossi to Nashville
AK/EL, good pod, good comments. Yes, on Rossi provided the price is right (assuming Minnesota will want an overpay). The question is what the ask will be from Minnesota (assuming they'll want at least first rounder and a premium prospect). I think strong odds we'll get outbid because their are teams that will more than likely have more to offer. The best way to acquire him would be to sign him to an offersheet him. He would provide depth at center…of course do not overpay. Trotz should call but at this point I don't know that's entirely realistic. Minnesota will field a lot of offers for him.
I don't know how realistic Rossi is to Nashville. Personally, I would really like the pick-up, especially given the depth it gives the team for the "not now." The center depth of whoever Nashville gets at 5OA, Rossi, Surin, Svechkov, and Edstrom sounds incredibly enticing. That said, I'm not sure the price is worth paying.
I'm no reporter, I just hear the media rumors, but this goes a bit along side one of Emma's points that Rossi has continually produced at a similar pace to Boldy. The rumor is that Rossi is looking for an identical deal to Matt Boldy, who just signed a 7 year, 7 million AAV contract. The reasoning supposedly being that because Rossi has produced at a similar rate to Boldy and the fact that he plays center, he is worth just as much.
Because of that though, the asking price will be supremely high for Rossi, if not bordering on overpay. Likely looking for a 1st round pick and a young roster player or elite prospect, and as much as it would pain everyone in Nashville, the only player I can see who might fit that bill is Evangelista.
I think last season and this (upcoming) one Rossi would make a difference being on this team, but going forward depends who we get at the draft and how guys like Surin and Edstrom turn out. If we get Hagens then we have 2 smaller top centers, I guess having a wealth of centers for a change wouldnt be a bad thing though, and one or two guys can always be traded off if we end up with a log jam. If the price from MN isnt too bad then it would be a great move, just depends how much other teams will offer and Id bet someone else out there is willing to overpay
No thanks! Let's see what Svechkov can do at #2C, Surin and Edstrom are good, young Centers coming up, plus the Preds can draft another with the #5 pick. Losing the 2026 1st round pick for Rossi could end up costing Nashville a shot at McKenna.
Update on Josi?
