Utica Comets vs. Toronto Marlies | Calder Cup Playoffs | May 3rd, 2023

The Comets stood at home in front of a roaring crowd at the Adirondack Bank Center on Wednesday night as they entered the playoff matchup with the Toronto Marlies with one win each in the best of five series. With a victory tonight, one team will put the other on the brink of elimination on Friday night. Despite being down by two goals in the contest, the Comets clawed back and tied the game as the teams were tied heading into the final period of regulation. Unfortunately for Utica, it was the Marlies that pulled away in the third period and the Comets fell in the series 2-1 and must win on Friday night at home to extend the series to a fifth game.

  1. Too many defensive misplays compounded with absolutely sh1t power plays cost them. Marlies had more shots on goal during the Comets 4:00 power play. Comets PK was decent against the second best PP in the league. Backs against the wall.

  2. 3rd goal was weak for Daws to give up. Also that penalty shot was such bullshit. If you get a shot off/scoring chance than it's a penalty and not a penalty shot. The Marlies player got his shot off whole the penalty was taken. Bad call by the ref. 2 little things that cost Utica the game.
