Which Free Agents Should the Bruins Sign? | Morgan Geekie Update

The Boston Bruins are preparing for the NHL Free Agent season, which is right around the corner.

Thanks to Puck Pedia I go over all of the top free agents available and see which one would be a good fit for the Boston Bruins.

I also provide somewhat of an update about Morgan Geekie.

  1. In the end, Sweens is going to spend big money on another Elias to solve our 1C. I would love to see Marchy back. It's a weird feeling seeing him succeed (yes!) in FL (boo!).

  2. Noah Dobson is an interesting potential trade target I haven’t heard much discussion about. If the Islanders are set on drafting Schaefer he could be on the block and I’d love to see the Bruins take a shot at him. Or maybe they can move Lohrei and a late round pick to get Peterka

  3. I'm inclined to agree with others who have said they aren't too bothered by the idea of the likes of Geekie moving on, I like the guy well enough but youre spot on when you highlight the 88 factor's part in his career high season. There are many players entering the market that, by my estimation, have a higher individual impact on the game than Geeks.

  4. NOT GRIZLIK, took years to get rid of him, terrible in the playoffs, just no. Fabbro is a much better option. Boeser is only decent high end option. Jeannot, Kunin and some fast, gritty depth would be good. The need more than Kastellic and Lauko.

  5. I know it's off topic; Charlie Coyle will be free agent at the end of 25-26. I heard that McKinnon went off him in the playoffs. I wonder if there's a possibility of Colorado retaining some of his salary and making a return to Boston? I like his game. I think he was a great locker room guy. Gryczlek is a talented skater, but squeezes the stick under pressure. Both were turnover-esque in Boston. IMHO

  6. "He's everything everyone thinks Casey Middlestadt is, but he pulls it off"….that one had me laughing. But 100% true.

    – Ehlers injury history is a concern; don't want to invest half your open cap in 1 dude that gets hurt a lot (yes, I know LTIR…blah blah blah)
    – Foot speed concerns with Boesser. He does score; but I"m not sure he has the foot speed to play a two-game in the top 6
    – If Boston can unload Middlestadt; I'd take a flier on Duchane….3×5.5 or something….nothing longer than 3 years tho.
    – Grz is a total hard pass for me. He doesn't strike me as a good fit as a 3rd pairing d-man
    – Boston has basically a full team of bottom-six players; we don't need any more 😀
    – Provorov or Dante Fabbro would be good additions, and shelter Lohrei a bit

For the trade route; I'd like to see them explore trades for Korpi, Middlestadt, Peeke, maybe Zacha. I'd also honestly be OK if they let Beecher walk

  7. No, I don't picture Bruins going after any of those big money names – that would be a complete 180° flip.

Some of these guys can come in on PTOs if no one picks them up

Anything can happen with marchand. He looks like he's home in Florida.
I don't see him playing for Toronto.
Especially if he wins that cup – the NHL is his oyster.

Would LOVE Gryzz back. I've missed him. Thought of him often this season
He could've shined this year as a leader with Hampus and Mac out. Sorry we let him go to begin with.

The rest of it is fascinating. I'm going to see how things play out.

there's going to be names that we don't know coming in.

Bruins rarely seem to sign the obvious. Unless his name is Patrice Bergeron.

Who is starting to talk to the media lately 🤔

    Once again, info packed video!
I'll listen to this again tonight to catch all these names..

    Thanks for the update
    👍

  8. Truly appreciate the great analysis. Hard to believe the Bs dumped so many guys at deadline and still don't have tons of Cap Space.

Not a Boeser fan, we need Top 6 goal scorers. I'd like to see Sweeney make a hockey trade for some talent, I'd have no issue with Sway, McAvoy or Hampus Lindholm going out in a trade that brings younger, talented wings back.

  9. Andrew Mangiapane is a dark horse. had a few down years but he WAS a really good two way winger. Think if you could get him on a deal for the right price i think you make that signing.

I also think the bruins should make a few trades nothing crazy. Noah dobson would be good. Maybe trade middlestat and zacha

  10. They should have traded Geeks at the Deadline. Already selling house they should have sold high… especially if they can’t even find a deal. Still plenty of time though.

  11. @bruinsdiehards seems like if the B’s are gonna make a legit top 6 upgrade it’s going to be through trade. Who do you think they could try and trade for?

  12. Bruins free agents id target for a cost effective rebuild
    – Fabian Zetterlund
    – Jack Roslovic
    – Ryan Donato
    – Pius Suter
    – Anthony Beauvillier
    – Victor Olofsson
    – Daniel Sprong
All have upside that maybe you could tap into. Id love a Marner but we all know Bruins wont do that
