Gotta See It: Gudas given five for clipping, Flyers announcers not happy
The Philadelphia Flyers announcers were not happy with the fact that play was whistled and Radko Gudas was given a clipping penalty for this hit on Lucas Lessio.
the refs in the NHL are brain dead fools you can't see it a questionable hit and not call anything and then when the Flyers get the puck then call the penalty after they shot the puck but you didn't whistle. or Stop the play and you did nothing when they hit was initiated what are you brain-dead
Calling a penalty after the fact because a player has a high likelihood of having done something wrong is in the rulebook. It's called the "gudas rule".
I have no problem with people arguing the call, it was delayed due to the injury but the refs have an obligation to review a call if one of the four officials raises a concern. The announcers know this and anyone who follows the NHL knows this. The notion that it was the Habs players fault for trying to avoid the hit is a ridiculous comment as we all know Gudas hits players like a freight train. Anyone who has played knows you attempt to avoid these hits (any hit) when possible because when you're the unfortunate victim of a hip check it can really smart. That was just a hockey play that went a bit south, Gudas got a 'questionable' call but then again he plays on the edge so it's bound to happen.

I remember getting clipped once. Going to finish a check on a guy about a foot from the boards.. instead of evading or absorbing, the dude just suddenly bent down to my knees and by that point there’s no return. I hate clipping just as much as a slew foot. Last major concussion I suffered was because of a slew.

I hate the flyers but that was a solid hip check. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just tried to get out of the way….it was his fault lol
