Aho hit on Reinhart – Tough Call Review

Sebastian Aho injured Sam Reinhart with this hip check. Is it enough for clipping?

  1. Only thing I can see is interference. Kneeing can also be used for any significant leg-on-leg contact that exceeds what would be covered by tripping, even if the knees don't connect, but I see too much hip-to-hip contact to justify that.

To me, it's just bad geometry. Happens sometimes, even on clean hits. Part of the game.

  2. Aho is a dirty player. Interference is definitely on the menu here. When the teammate is already playing the puck, it means the puck left a while ago, and you are not eligible to be hit.
That said, the amount of dirty play by the panthers has been unbelievable. Except of course, you then remember they have Marchand, Bennett, Tkachuk, etc. So, it becomes believable at that point.

  3. fair hit

karma for Reinharts knee hit on that Ducks player a few months ago, which was clearly intent to injure (panthers have lost benefit of the doubt)

  4. Missed his hit and it's a fraction late (he committed to the hit and can't stop), but not a finable or suspendable hit.

  5. Gee Bennett gets hit by a player not known for being dirty and panthers are screaming bloody murder? lol seems poetic, don’t wish anyone to be injured however Sam is always looking for destruction of another player, riding the line every shift and sneaky plays accidentally not intentionally elbowing goalies etc.

  6. Open ice hip checks are tough and when you miss like this and hit the thigh / trailing leg its quite dangerous. I think Aho would have been better just going shoulder to shoulder there, especially as Reinhart was watching his pass.

  7. I like Reinhart, but nice to see Florida players going down since that’s been a key to their success in the past

  8. “A little bit of payback”
“This is for that hit on [player] on [team not in the playoffs] five months ago”
“They can dish it out but not take it”
    “Panthers deserve all the hurt”

Bunch of fuckin losers. If you’re cheering for these kinds of hits, YOU are a problem in hockey. The other is the consistency in the standard in which these penalties are judged – which is the most mobile goalpost I have ever seen in pro sports. One uncalled slewfoot here, another embellishment call (always on Florida) there. That is what is really messing with the interpretation of the game by fans – if the fans can’t observe a standard, every call can look egregious.
Better still are those in the fandom that never even played street hockey let alone an organized game with checking but seem to have all the answers. Laughable. (Not you @toughcall)

  9. Back in the day when hockey was still a MAN’s game ……. That was called a hip check , it was perfectly acceptable, and nobody went after the guy delivering the hit , shame on whoever was caught with their head down and got tumbled…….

  10. Aho is very dirty player he done this shit all his career😂 just never gets in trouble for it same as flying elbow Bennett also never gets in trouble for it with the league dirty hit clear targeting knee of another player anyone says anything different is moron and doesn't watch hockey aho has done this shit for years lmao
