  1. Out of all the teams the Ducks are willing to pay Marner over 13 million. Rumors have stated that the Ducks will pay 15 million for Marner. Ducks are not messing around this off season.

  2. SJS: has the money plus the Marleau Jumbo connection. If Marner’s wife wants to live close to friends and San Jose is even close on the money I see him there next season. Second Anaheim or LA still close to friends and an easy media market

  3. The tax thing is very overblown. 41 home games so bit more then half your games in states without state tax. Then take property coat/value weather the area you’ll have your family living in:: Detroit Chicago come to mind even LA Look at the past few days I don’t want to move my family anywhere near there. Those things matter to family guy’s. Marner is a family man don’t sleep in that wife influence.

  4. A California team would be great for him in lots of ways… I think LA makes the most sense, then Anaheim. SJS aren't close enough even with Marner.

If he wants to go to Vegas, the way to do it is a sign & trade; Vegas would have to give up one of their more expensive guys. Maybe they move Stone or Hertl.

Florida would be awesome just in that it would serve Toronto right to let this guy go & then have him sig with a team that will knock them out of the playoffs yet again, because they let Mitch take the blame for the lack of a proper goalie.

  5. You pay tax on where you are playing, so If you play in California, your paying Cali tax on that check. The only real benefit on non state tax teams is half your game checks are in that state

  6. It's not even that. Dude was carjacked in Toronto. Why would he choose to live in Tdot over, a gorgeous, tropical location? Columbus was the only weird one, but maybe he's buddies with Werenski or something.

  7. "State income tax" is so important in the NHL bc that league doesn't generate as much revenue like the NFL, NBA. or MLB….4th place in the major North American sports leagues. Also, time of the season matters greatly too…bachelor athletes in the NFL are more willing to sign with colder high tax markets like the Bills, Vikings, Packers, Browns, Bengals, etc because the season ends early Jan to mid-February depending on how far a team advances into the postseason….meaning these players get to skip the 2nd half of winter! Personally? I'd like to see NHL season start mid-late January and then end say late August-late Sept because you wouldn't be competing against majority of the NFL season or the NBA…while allowing players to skip first half of winter in colder markets…only competing against MLB which would raise media engagement/revenue.

  8. I'm so tired of sign and trade. For that to happen the Leafs need to give him permission to talk to other teams. They have not done that.
