Vincent Trocheck scores a controversial overtime winner, as Andrei Svechnikov nearly high sticks the puck before it bounces off the crossbar and lands on the newest member of the Hurricanes’ stick, the referees would decide good goal.

High stick
Puck went in but there was the high stick so no goal.
Canes Fans: Good goal. Inconclusive
Everyone Else: Clearly high stick. No goal.
Interesting controversy. But it is technically within the rules. Wow.
Good goal lol. Not a fan of either team
All I'm asking what are the rules? Can you check a high stick that wasn't used to score? There are plays that are not reviewable, is this reviewable?
What if you included a video clip from the angle that was level with Svechnikov's shoulders.
Just what if.
I know it's out there. You could've found it if you wanted to.
How is that possibly a goal. High stick contact, next player to touch was his teammate. Blows me away how they can mess this up with fifty cameras on the play
I’m not just saying this cuz I’m an islanders fan but that’s not a goal. Period. It was a clear high stick but cuz the hockey gods are cruel. It counted
High stick, No goal.
That stick is too damn high!
I get you’re the home announcer, but that’s way over his shoulders lmao
High stick, jeez we all know how gravity works right?
It's touched just over the crossbar. For this play, the limit is Svechnikov's shoulders when he's standing straight, so yeah it's an easy good call.
1:23 not a high stick
when he hits the puck, the puck goes in a downward angle and hits the crossbar, so it had to be a high stick in order for that to happen.
Its not conclusive because the dumb asses at the NHL Executive office forgot to include camera angles for the ref that is at ice level. Of course it looks in conclusive if you look at it from cameras that have a terrible angle of the play. I can't expect the refs to correlate angles and perspectives looking on an Ipad.
Not a fan of either team and just neutral party here. But the play should've been whistled down as a high-stick, but since it didn't. The puck should've never happened. However, this is not a reviewable when it comes to challenge, it is just very unfortunate situation for the Islanders.
Good goal. Svech never tried to pass, he went for the goal but it bounced off the crossbar right to Trochek.
Good goal!
Well that call is going to be in a dang it video 😄
If it weren't for the puck's crossbar kiss, IMHO that's no goal. But as it is…too bad, NYI. I'd say that's clean. 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
1:23 good call
Thinking about the high stick contact as a shot on goal (which it ends up hitting the crossbar) the point of contact history is reset and the next shot is a goal. The high stick works have been an obvious no-goal, but goes off the bar. Good goal.
Thinking the high stick is more of a knocking down of the puck, in a case like stopping a clearing of the zone, and it's immediately touched by a teammate, it's a dead puck no goal.
I think this is a good goal. Probably NOT because of the rules as they stand, but because of what the rule should be. Per the rules, probably should have been disallowed.
High stick. Play should have been blown dead.
Shouldn't have been allowed
That stick looked above the shoulders, slightly but definitely above the shoulders.
Hmmmmm I wonder if that's above the shoulders.🤔🤔🤔
Over the bar in my opinion, but we got the better end of it so…
Nahh that’s wasn’t a high stick 🙃 – canes fan
this guys always doing nutty stuff
It's just ridiculous. The puck was above his head.
Canes probably would’ve won anyways they still had a minute on the 4-on-3. They’re also undefeated in the shootout
The puck didn’t even go in straight off that high stick who cares
:30 announcer gulps when seeing the high stick.
Canes fan here. They missed the call. But, apparently it's not a reviewable call so it doesn't matter.
I don't see why people are saying that the goal is "no goal", it hit the ice before trocheck scored. But maybe I'm wrong? Comment the rule if you know because I am very confused.
