So this is a good Sign actually. Torts didn't give a shit what happened at Lehigh, where Tocchet clearly does. The head coaches job on the big club can be made a lot easier if the development on the AHL team is in lock step with the Big Club. I feel like they half ass ran the Phantoms, like let's just let them do whatever and whoever is hot we will call up. Also they were running the Phantoms like a competitive club like Hershey (that operates independently from the Capitals). I think the top prospects need to play lots of minutes and get into the system that the big club is going to run.

Kelly is right. Bennett is a kind of player to put you over the top. He is not the type of player who, on his own, gets you to the playoffs.
Draft someone else at 6, then trade up to take Martin with other picks

I think Kelly is missing the point. Some players are glue guys where the value may not come with points. Its ok to have 2 or 3 great players and a high end glue guy which is what Bennett is
Frondell or desnoyers. Unless we trade up for hagens.

Any one who says “drafting Martin at 6 is a fireable offence” are the same people horned up about Buium who looked brutal in the 4 games with the wild this year.
Smarts and anticipation are what allowed Richards to become a guy who had two point-per-game seasons despite not having an elite physical toolkit. If Martin doesn't have high-end hockey IQ, the Richards comparison isn't a good one and he's probably more of a guy who will maybe give you 20-25 goals while playing as a 3C or as a complementary winger playing alongside high-end skill players.

There is a way to get back up into the 10-12 range. You package up some of those second round picks you've stockpiled along with pick #22. There's no way Brady Martin should be the guy you do that for, though. You draft a first line centre prospect at #6 and you draft the best prospect available on the blueline at #10-12. You take Jackson Smith or Mrtka in the 10-12 range if either of them is on the board. The Flyers are thin on talent, everywhere. This is the draft you try your best to get two top 10 picks.

Ok Brady Martin , was ranked between 15 and 20 beginning of the year depending on the Mock, but that hitting, is part of his DNA. to me his between 10 and 15, i take Martin over Richards any time a day. Florida is a great team and very well coached. Suggesting that their success is due to the league allowing them to get away with things other teams can't is short-sighted and ignorant. They forecheck aggressively, control the neutral zone effectively, and play strong, disciplined defense. And, of course, they have BOB.

Taking Brady Martin at 6th should result in Danny and Jones getting ousted. If they trade up and take him at 10, sure.
