I don't think DeBoer should have thrown Jake under the bus, but he's also not wrong. Say what you want about Jake in earlier rounds, but Jake got beat by Skinner.
Do we need a OFD
The only problem I have is that Oetter has done bad 2 times in a row in the Western Conference Finals. I know it is not all of his fault, but I do have questions about him in this round.
Move Jamie Benn to the player liason role, or put him in player development. Jamie cannot take up cap space next year.

I don't understand this comment section, the only thing I can assume is there are a lot of fairweather fans in here. As a 18+ year fan of the stars, we've been in a lot worse positions throughout the years. The Oilers showed up and we just didn't in the final. The cup is the hardest trophy to win. It sucks but some of you are acting like leaf fans😂
To many players poke checking with sticks in the middle of ice, letting the Oilers drive the center ice, not enough removing the players with the puck or clogging the middle. Also not enough Stars in front of the Oilers goalie to much if the offensive time possession.
Pete DeBoer pulling Oettinger the way he did wasn’t needed. He pulled him as if he was fed up with him. Those goals weren’t his fault per say. He was left all alone, no defenders in front of him. Yeah you need him to make key saves but in a scenario like that, you can’t point the finger solely at him. I think DeBoer let his emotions and anger out in that moment. He shouldn’t have done that. I’m not saying maybe they could have won. I think they still would have lost but the score could have been a lot closer. DeSmith wasn’t used all playoffs and you throw him in cold in the moment where it’s do or die!? what did you expect him to do DeBoer. If nothing else you could have kept Oettinger in and let him at least keep his dignity and perhaps he would have tightened up in a game like this. Like I said, they probably still would have lost. Mcdavid and Draisaitl play a style of game in which they don’t have a clue how to defend against it. Jamie Benn, I hate to say this, but Jamie Benn is the only reason I wanted them to win. He has been such a great captain to this team. I wanted to at least see him finally win it. If it was going to happen, this was it. And yet the entire playoffs, 16 games, he could only get 3 damn points. You’d think if he wanted it bad enough he could have stepped up somewhere and made a bigger impact. Benn’s contract is up and he will become a UFA. I think he needs to go ahead and hang up the gloves. I’d love to see him continue, but I know he’s not going to take something like a one year one million. There’s going to be cap space opening up in which we really need to find more physical defensemen. Lybushkin wasn’t the answer, neither was Dumba or Ceci.

in the playoffs this year a lot of early and offensive zone penalties that put you behind the 8 ball. The penalty Borque took was careless and stupid and a bit indicative of how they are not focused when the puck first drops.
Lucky to be there jets should have beat these guys.
Oiler fam here. We went through our Decade of Darkness and we still supported our team. Canada has had 30 yrs of no Cup, yet we're as crazy as ever for our home teams. Dallas has been in the mix for almost a decade. You've had it good in comparison…unlike the sad sack Leafs. Your universe isn't crashing. A few good tweaks and you'll be in the WCF again. No matter how the Oilers do next round, they will need to tweak to improve next season too.
Bit the silver lining is that snowflake hintz came back off life support after almost losing a foot to score a goal in the losing effort. He's also nominated for an oscar.

The disappointment isn't that they lost. It's how they lost. We don't have enough leadership, character, or grit/toughness. We were clearly the inferior team. At no time in this series, did I feel we were going to advance. Honestly I was shocked we made it this far in the playoffs. Time to make some personnel changes starting with the Captain. It's time to either take a major step back, or move on Jamie. I don't know about DeBoer. He's a really good coach, but seems stuck in his ways with every team he coaches. You need to be adaptable and set up a system or strategy to match your teams make up. But Nill has to also change his strategy. This isn't the 90's when finesse teams could win the cup. He has to realize that!!
Lots of 'ifs', 'could haves', should haves' probably would haves'….you simply lost to a better team that was better than you in every single facet of the game….including coaching.
