The 2025 NHL Draft is almost upon us, and the Calgary Flames enter the event with seven picks at their disposal. What can we expect the Flames to do at the draft? Ryan digs into their picks, their recent selections, and their possible draft preferences.
Please note that this video mistakenly lists the Flames’ second-round pick (Colorado’s pick, acquired from Washington in the Andrew Mangiapane trade) as 57th overall; the pick is actually 54th overall.

Flames fans I will say this!! Keep an eye on C Brady Martin.. I've been told the Flames are very very interested in him but would have to move up.. Brady Martin could go top 5!!
How about a video on what the different choices would have been over the last 20 years if the Flames had just taken central scouting BPA instead of who they selected?
If Flames are staying at 18, I say go for Cootes or Reschney, assuming they are still available in that range. Both are natural Centers with decent IQ, projected to be a mid 6 forwards. Otherwise, if I'm Conroy, I would push to move up in the draft possible with a team like Buffalo, and try to snag Jake O'Brien. A solid right shot Center that has first line potential.
The flames have tried small. It doesn't work in the playoffs. You can have the odd small guy on your team but you cant make it a habit. If I were the flames I would also look at signing toews. If he works out then you can trade him at the deadline or trade kadri. Because if you think kadri is an good leader and he is, toews has been the ultimate leader. It's only a question of his health. They need to draft centre's. Lots of centre's.
the flames had Monny, Bennett, , Johnny and chucky. Were rumored to be in on Sam Reinhart.
Fast forward to now and the organization has 0 chance of being a legit contender. As long as Edm has those two superstars… Flames either need their own superstar or they are cooked for the foreseeable future.
Their picks may amount to solid depth but it needs to he lead by superstar talent.
Only chance is Dustin wolf turning into a star goalie.

Thanks for the video Ryan. I just want the flames to continue their strong late drafting and sell off a couple vets this summer. Not all of them. Just 2-3.
I'd hate to see the reactions if they don't pick a center at 18.

It would be nice to have a super star or two but the flames will never get that through the draft as their always middle of the pack and don't get that high draft pick. Keep making your picks pay off as last years crop seem to be quite good. Then if you've had some success at the draft with your later picks use them to bring in a player or two to strengthen your club. I've seen many teams that have over achieved because they bought in to what the coach is teaching and accepting the role they have been asked to take on
