I am used to seasons like the one we just watched, though this was one of the most disappointing overall.

I'm afraid there are going to right with my other favorite team in the mushy middle.
To go from the 50-win powerhouse (with all-star players at all the key positions), immediately to the absolute tire fire season of this past year is the most Canuck thing that could have happened. š
The canucks and islanders need rebuilds.
Tocchet leaving is big and to go Philly he had to have talked to Hughes.
And Pettersson is wishy washy
Boeser,Suter ufa
Who do you really have? The same way Chicago fans put to much on a 19/20yr old to much is on Hughes and clearly they gave captaincy to best player not most vocal or stand up guy. When Winnipeg had issues Lowry was big in between the 2 groups saying things you can't post online. And why he was chosen as Captain.
Best thing I think is move Debrusk/Garland and Hughes get huge package and try and turn it around quicker maybe you get a top 3 pick Demko finds game again.
But for me Horvat/Barzal have nothing to work with Google those fwd lines majority of groups 4th liners/AHL guys.
I hadn't thought about Horvat coming back, but that would require shipping out a 1st round draft pick. I would rather get a younger centre if possible.
Not a chance , Tochet knew to get off a sinking ship , hughes will be next.
Ok, I clarly don't know hockey. I would have thought Vancouver would have been mid to low in Pk and high mid on PP. I kind of like the Canucks I think top 5 in my opinion as fandom. They should be challenging for a playoffs spot with this playergroup, spesially if both goalies stay healty. But this is clarly not a championship caliber team, so i would think a hard retool would be in order, so whit that maybe they need to sell one of the goalies for some younger talent like 20-25 not nessesarly draftpicks and rookies.
The war between THG and the Canucks trading away draft picks is always beautiful
Collusion or tampering going on by the Flyers with Toccet, in a sports media frenzy today how the hell did this stay so quiet
Until they donāt get rid of #40, this organization is going to remain in the toilet for the foreseeable future.
No Kiefer Sherwood mention š„ŗ
Itās not like theyāre gonna draft a āgoodā player with their draft pick anyways.
Watch it be another European player who canāt do anything. While organizations like Chicago draft āeliteā talent like Frank Nazar.
It makes me laugh when people bash Boeser āheās slow, heās not worth 8 millionā. Yet they will blindly defend that 11.6 million pylon.
There are players in the ECHL who could do what he does, and for about 10 million dollars cheaper. āļø
The season depends if Pettersson bounces back from 45 points. If he is the 102 pt C or even 89 point C, then the Canucks have a good shot at returning to the playoffs. It's actually amazing how the Canucks finished with 90 points when everyone on the roster had a bad year except for Hughes, DeBrusk, Sherwood and Lankinen. Imagine if everyone else got back to their potential.
Shannon as a Canucks fan these vids mean the world to me
I blame above all the GM, DHO, and ownership. How many times have they gotten utterly hosed on a deal or an outrageous long-term contract? How many times have they prioritized the marketing gimmicks over the actual ability to win important games (especially playoffs)? I do not understand their motivations, except to say in this city, the "real estate tycoon" mentality seems to dominate where as soon as you have a quality asset you sell it off for a quick buck. Except just like our real estate market, the Canucks also overprice mediocre assets and scratch their heads when the public no longer wants to pay for it. Yeah, the fans, the actual ticket buyers and TV watchers, remember them? Those working class people who in this city are usually 2 missed paycheques away from being homeless? So we do not want to hear about the "angst" involved in having to actually justify the 7 or 8 figure income they get as mercenary entertainers. That is not to say team morale is not an issue – it totally is. Once again, it is up to management to improve morale, by rewarding what actually works, not doing what doesn't work, and then trying to whitewash the mistakes just to save face, while morale goes to hell.
Speaking of living in the shadow of doom, want to play a depressing game? Just make a list of all the excellent BC-raised hockey stars that have NOT played for the Canucks. But make sure your family hides all the sharp objects from you first, because you will be tempted as a BC hockey fan to end your own suffering.
Time for the Aquilini to sell the team. Years without restocking the prospect pool is costing us.
Come on now⦠at 2:30 you talk about canucks not doing a rebuild.. but they managed to get players like Hughes, demko, Petey, boeser, miller, horvat onto the team⦠that is a championship calibre team right there. The canucks just could not win with this group for whatever reason. So yes even tho they never fully committed to a rebuild, they got players other teams would dream of having. We ended up fine
Man⦠I just miss Zadorovā¦
What's stopping you from wearing a Bo Horvat jersey now? You're an Andrei Kuzmenko hat.
Manny Malhotra is a very smart man, im sure he would do a good job coaching in the NHL.
just a word of warning from someone with experience, dont do what the devils did in 2010 to try and get parise to resign by winning after he expressed the desire to play close to home. winning is not the answer for that type of problem. devils made it all the way to the cup finals and lost in 6 to the kings and parise still walked for nothing. maybe that wouldve played out differently if we had won the cup or maybe it wouldnt have, we were only 2 wins away from winning a cup and we went through almost 15 years of being a bottom feeder team and since then have only made the playoffs 3 times and only won 1 round in the playoffs… parise leaving was the catalyst that started it all, if the devils had started a rebuild in 2010 or 2011 the last 10 years give or take wouldve been a lot different for the devils. and while the same fate is not guaranteed for the canucks if they do go down that same road, it is however still a very real possibility. and me having gone through that with the devils and knowing exactly what it feels like. i dont wish it on any other team except the rangers but thats a different story, we dont like the rangers here in NJ. regardless of what happens i wish nothing but the best to the canucks and their fans.
Bouncing is always a possibility when approaching rock bottom at high speed!
The Canucks drastically overplayed last year, and drastically underplayed this year. They're somewhere in the middle of the road.
hinging your success on 3 or4 players who ALWAYS get injured for significant time is not how to cook
I usually agree with your takes, but Horvat is not right for this team. He doesn't make his linemates better and he's barely more effective than Boeser. And as a leader he has a history of leading losing teams. No thanks.
I hope Garland goes right back to the Coyotes/Mammoth
Canucks spent 3 years denying the rebuild, then the next 3 trying to do both the rebuild and make the playoffs – what a waste.
Theyāve spent alot of money next year and will have 4 LW over 2.5M a year. One of them will need to be traded I would assume, in order to get one of the three top 6 F they need.
Not sure how theyāre going to get the other two without trading Lekkerimaki and Willander as well as first round picks
1. These are all players that can be traded without a major impact, average players or Tocchet fan boys that should be slapped in the face: Ā
Arshdeep Bains
Teddy Blueger
Brock Boeser
Guillaume Brisebois
Thatcher Demko
Phillip Di Giuseppe
Derek Forbort
Conor Garland
Dakota Joshua
Noah Juulsen
Victor Mancini
Ty Mueller
Tyler Myers
Drew O'Connor
Max Sasson
Kiefer Sherwood
2. Demko & Boeser can bring an elite 2nd line centre.
3. Garland should never have been given 1-2 line time. He needs to be traded.
4. Sherwood can stay as long as he stays out of the box.
I'm betting Demko and Garland will be next to jump this sinking raft. It's one thing we know about Amuricuns is they stick together. In addition no one wants to play with protected softey petey. Two to three years before they get back into playoffs.
No shame wearing a Horvat jersey, but it's time to find the new version of Bo in the draft. I think next year's Canucks will be a "bubble team", losing in the 1st or 2nd round if they make it. Start trading for 2026 & '27 draft picks.
The thing to note is we had probably the worst defense core for at least a third of the year. With so many injuries and so many outclassed guys on the first/second/third lines most of those games were just lost to bad bad bad defense.
Still happy we got out of Desharnis. I hope we never see juulsen at the NHL level for the Canucks again. We have so many better guys down there, even like Kurdryatsev.
If we can play the leafs style of winning 1-0, 2-0 with strong defense and just enough offense maybe we can manage.
Please, God, no matter how good his ā26 season is, donāt let Demko go to the Olympics ššš also, Silovs has put Abbotsford on his back, man.
I think itās time for the Canucks to rebuild and I mean a proper rebuild
Allvin doesnāt have the final say, Aquilini does
Probably I am out to lunch! But after your Sharks talk, maybe this has some potential to be a win-win for both the Sharks and Canucks.
– If the Sharks pick Michael Misa with the second pick, any chance they would part with Celibrini for the right price?
– If the Canucks think they are going to loose Quinn Hughes in two years
– trade him and Sutor to the Devils
o for Mercer, Dillon, Nemec and a high pick
– trade Dillon, Nemec, Demko, Garland and Chytill to the Sharks
o for Celebrini and a few 2025/2026 first or second round picks
– Canucks would have enough cap space left to sign Boeser and Sam Bennet
There is absolutely no way that it is not Aquilini's decision to keep trying to make the playoffs, and not just rebuild. There is no way that he is not behind the decisions to sign players that shouldn't be signed. GM's come and GM's go. Coaches come, and coaches go. For the last 2 decades the owner has been the owner. He is the ONE consistent over the last 21 years. WTF does that tell you?
