I remember when I listened to the local alt rock station, one of the morning hosts was originally from Washington state and he decided to get more into hockey during the COVID-shortened season in anticipation for the Kraken starting play in 21-22, I also lol’d when he said “Cincinnati Blue Jackets” but he was learning. When the expansion draft was held, I laughed my ass off when he wondered if the fanbase would be called the Krakheads 😂. Ah good times.
I agree, both of Seattle's current home and away are really good, "modern" yet "classic" jerseys! It really helped to allay the fears of many who hated the "Kraken" name and were expecting a cartoonish "Mighty Ducks" type logo.
Hot take: Seattle's Winter Classic jersey just might be my favourite NHL jersey of all time, which I did not expect until I put it on. I have both the Fanatics and Adidas versions, and the Adidas is sooo nice, with the thick felt lettering, that I feel anxious wearing it, like it I've borrowed it from a museum so I have to be careful not to ruin it.
In fact, Seattle's is sooo good that it made Vegas' own Winter Classic jersey look absolutely terrible in comparison, though I actually think it's not that bad, especially with the gloves and full kit. This was definitely an underrated Winter Classic.
You guys hit this one on the screws. The Seattle Jersey is very, very good. You made me aware of a lot of points about this jersey that I did not realize. Well done fellas! One question, I’m not a fan of white jerseys in general, but I actually like the white Seattle jersey better than the blue. What say you?
