Not for nothing. I believe Tuch was being honest. His wife is expecting so I’m sure hey honey where do you want to live on 7/1/26 probably not high on there concern list right now.
The biggest issue with the proposed trade with Philly is that Nick Seeler has a NTC, so I would alter that trade and offer up Samuelsson and Krebs, and try to get Tyson Foerster. He’s a 23 year old 2nd line Winger that plays both sides and has 177 over the last 2 season.
Last I checked Philly was interested in both Sammy and Krebs, so they may take this deal, if not be wiling to tweak it
As far as Tuch not sounding optimistic, he may just not want to show all of his cards to Adams.
It could be that he is wanting to sign with Buffalo, but his mind may be set on the fact that this team isn’t good enough to take a “Hometown Discount” and possibly bad enough that he is going to ask for an Overpay, regardless of how much he loves the Sabres.
Cant extend him…we need him to carry on the streak after Skinner wins the cup with Edmonton. Trade him at the deadline to a contender so he can join O'Reilly, Eichel, Reinhart and Okposso.
Losing Tuch would be a serious downer for the whole organization. They have to sign him or admit that this team is never going to make good moves.
They better sign Tuch.
Don't forget, Tuch also has a 66.7% chance of scoring on shootouts. Thats a great number. Some talented scorers can't get 50% on shootouts. I expect Tuch to look in upwards of 8.5mil AAV, whether he wants to be a Sabre or not, this is his families livelihood and he deserves to be paid. This is why all of this falls on Adams and Pegula. If you lose these players you know you need to succeed that is all on their shoulders. This (as fate may have it) will be a pivotal season for Adams, Ruff (both contracts end), if they do not get into the playoffs this coming season. I don't see any serious player wanting to stay there.
When owners spend to the cap hometown discounts can be attractive to the players, because it improves the quality of their teammates. But if ownership won't spend to the cap, hometown discounts are just gifts to billionaire owners.
He will either get drastically overpaid to stay or leave or ask to be traded if he wants success anytime soon
