There is NO guarantee that HaGENS will be there at 4. I am hearing 3 is the spot that he will go.
Yeah Holmstrom isn't gonna be close to getting that done. You're going to have to add a decent amount and it's gonna get too convoluted. I'm sure Utah will prefer a straight 1 for 1 swap. They'll be eyeing Barzal, I'm sure. That's really the only thing I can see that makes sense for them. I'm not gonna say that's a bad move for us, but if we do it we're basically committing to the rebuild.
Eiserman + Ritchie, then Schaefer + Hagens in this draft, then another two 1sts next year. That's not a bad rebuild IMO. Add in the young vets like Dobson, Romanov, Holmstrom, Tsyp. Keep Horvat and Sorokin around as the veterans you build around. You could do a hell of a lot worse. Question is whether or not Darche wants to go that route.
Holmstrom is a middle six forward.
That would be my dream draft. The Islanders take Schaffer, then trade back into the draft, and take Hagens. Or, there’s always the off chance that Hagens pulls an Adam Fox, and will only sign if it’s with the Islanders.

Id rather keep Holmstrom hes very strong on his skates and is a strong forechecker.

Holmstrom is the type of player You keep, It is not unreasonable to see Him put up 60 points next Year and is a good 2 way Player, You trade older Players or trade down to the Sharks and add resources , You do not trade a good young cheap player who was the 4th best scorer on a Team that cannot score
If Utah agrees to take Simon Holmstrom for their #4 pick in this year's draft, I will literally drive Holmstrom to the airport. The Islanders would be INSANE not to agree to that deal!
Definitely make that offer, but expect Utah to treat it as a backup. Holmstrom is still growing, I’m not sure if Utah wants another project. They’ll likely look for someone way more established.

This is crazy talk. Darche has made it clear he isn't going to REBUILD, he's going to retool. When a GM names 5 players as untouchable, and signals that the first overall pick ISN'T untouchable, he wants players that are proven NHL ready. Not one player in this draft is a sure fire NHL star. Not one. Projecting any of them as PPG in the NHL is crazy. NHL history is littered with top 5 picks that made a big impact in the NHL. Holmstrom has proven he is an effective 2 way forward who retrieves the puck, keeps possession at a high level, creates turnovers, doesn't take penalties and scores. Where I disagree with Darche is not having Holmstrom in that untouchable group rather than Romanov.

Kailer Yamamoto isnt even under contract for Utah and Bjugstad is a UFA. Current top 2 lines are Keller-Cooley-Guenther and then Schmatz-Hayton-Doan. I really like those lines as is, and they have prospects Iginla and But knocking on the door as well. Yeah, there is always room for improvement, moving Doan or Schmaltz down to McBain's 3rd line, but Doan is young and talented and Schmaltz had 63 pts last year and has averaged 60 pt over the last 4 seasons.

If the Islanders can get the 4th pick, they should take Martone, who's been compared to a Brady Tkachuk, not Hagens. Imagine adding Schaefer and Martone? Hagens will probably be gone at 3 anyway. I really wish Hagens wasn't from LI because that seems to make people have irrational discussions about him potentially playing for the Islanders.
Dumb Isles fans are making begin to HATE Hagens! He isn't that good. Small, soft, perimeter, may need to be small wing. If U did trade up, you get better player like Matrone etc. But Col 26 will net a better player.
it would be Holmstrom plus Colorados #1 pick we got in the Brovk trade at minimum. Holmstrom is a fringe 2nd liner, more like a really good 3rd liner that can fill in on a scoring line if needed
