QUESTION OF THE DAY — Where Do YOU Think Jonathan Toews Returns To Next Season?
Misa is a generational talent. I would be ok trading the #3, #25, and Nolan Allen or Kaiser for #1, or #2 for Misa
Two comments:
1. The NY Islanders really do not want to trade the No. 1 pick. They will make unreasonable demands in trade negotiations and insist upon very lopsided, unfavorable trades. Won't happen.
2. KD will not include Kevin Korchinsi in any trade discussions. He is very young and still has a high ceiling – higher than Wyatt Kaiser.
Regarding Jonathan Toews' return to the NHL, if I were a GM I would avoid him like ebola virus. He is 37 years old and hasn't played in the NHL for over two years. Most important, it is unclear how effective he will be with the combination of long Covid and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome over the course of a long NHL season. He may be worth a one year flyer at a very reasonable salary, e.g., 2 million per year, for a playoff caliber team but that's about it.
Islanders would want Nazar and #3 or no deal… Makes no sense for the Islanders as Chicago has no one else other than Bedard and Nazar that would help them, when they could draft a possible generational player in Misa or Schneider…
I would include Korchinski in the trade package over Kaiser. Korchinski's trade value is higher around the league, and I think Kaiser will ultimately be a better all around defenseman than Korchinski.
As an Islanders fan the #1 asset Chicago holds that I would target would be that 2026 first rounder from Florida. I would push for more but that would be the first thing on my list. Way I look at it the more 2026 and beyond picks we have, the better trade bait we have before this upcoming season starts or at next years draft.
All that being said given the asking price for #1, only way I see it working is if San Jose and Chicago pool up a bunch of draft picks and maybe take on a cap dump or 2 so they can get there guy while Islanders take Hagens
