  1. He stunk when they needed him the most, but the reason the stars beat the Avs was mainly because Makar didn't show up. He's a big reason why they lost game 7 when he broke his stick which caused a penalty actually

  2. Signing Nelson and stuck with Charlie Coyle (and the tuba player that follows him) 🤔 Never seen a team try to get way slower

  3. As an Avs fan I’m pretty pleased with a second line of Landeskog-Nelson-Nichushkin. You finally get stability at that 2C position. I assume the Avs will be active with trades this off season

  4. Tavares contract has nothing to do with market value , it is soley on what leafs are willing to pay without getting lynched by the fans when they lose again , 5 mil or under is still what needs to happen jor Tavares , or leave

  5. Avalanche bet that 2 centers (Nelson/Coyle) for the price of one winger (Rantanen) was worth the trade off. Time will tell if that pays off.

  6. Reminder that rantanen wasnt going to sign with the Avs for the under 12 mil he signed at dallas once he was fueled by spite. He wanted no less than 14 mil. Thats why he got traded. It was, give him 14 mil or he walks for nothing. So this signing really has nothing to do with Rantanen or some percieved failing there.

Also reminder that next years 7.5 is this year's 6. Will be the year after's 5. People got way too used to the flat cap and cant seem to help but react emotionally to the numbers this season. Reminder that the 2c free agency market is really pretty tight this year and there are a LOT of teams looking to fill that hole. Now that this deal is signed, wait till you see what the other 2Cs on the open market go for this year and see if you feel like this was such an overpay then.

  7. Nelson is really 35. His birthday is in October. Hence, Brocktober…that's a nice contract for him.

  8. I don’t know what everyone’s going on about, if anything 2.5 per year seems like a bit of a bargain

  9. I think there are two factors with Brock Nelson's playoff performance: 1) New team. He was traded at the deadline to a very different style team. 2) Ottinger. Ottinger was a wall for everyone in the first couple rounds.

  10. Fries. Cheese Curds. Gravy. Poutine is the food of champions.Shoutout to Joseph DeBenedictis.

  11. I think the deal is good. People love to dog on the mikko deal, but guess what, the stars got a taste of what it’s like to have him on your team. He’ll show up and be amazing for a handful of games, then suddenly vanish. I would much rather have a package deal of players like, Nelson, Coyle, Necas, and Drury, than to pay all that money for ONE guy who has shown inconsistency. Trust me I love mikko a lot, but not 12-14 million enough.

  12. As an avs fan this is an overpay. I dig the dude but 7.5?! They let Naz walk for around that much. Im writing this Steve just brought that up 😆

  13. I wouldn't have signed him, but he's a good player, he scores points but does he have an edge to his game, No. He's a cruiser, but a talented one.

  14. Nice instead of signing Rantanen for 12 million they decide to overpay Nelson for 7.5. So all Rantanen was worth apparently was Brock Nelson and 4.5 million in cap space.

  15. IT may be 10 years before I get over the Rantanaan trade. I'm so angry. Necas played so well with the Av's but who's going to take a deal to play with anyone? Except Rantanaan!!! grrrrrrr

  16. every single ufa 2c is 32 ish to 35 right now lol so not like theres a ton of options and also brock getting the camp and preseason in and full season will help alot . number could of been 5 mil with some money defered but oh well
