They need a bona fide superstar. Rantanen is one but he is supporting cast. They need a keader wuth skill and talent. Benn is a bully so no pity for him.
The naive take is actually to say we out played them for 2 out of 3 periods; therefore, we are the better team.
Ummm… that's why the game is 3 periods and 60 minutes. That's why a series is 7 games and you need to win 4. Not 3. Not 3.5 – four.
The take also ignores team resilience – the mental ability to be "beaten" for almost 2 periods and come out in the 3rd and shut it down.
Your take also focuses almost exclusively on Dallas. Oh they blew it. They didn't… What about Edmonton? They DID.
And how that was done was character, experience and attention to details. Look at Edmonton's game management in the 3rd. Not going for more goals even though they were only up by one. They managed the puck and clock until Dallas ran out of time and then out of luck.
None of that is by fluke, which the "we won more periods" take suggests.
And you know what they say about close… horseshoes… and hand grenades 💥
You claim Otter is better than Skinner, yet the available evidence indicates the opposite.

I don't know how you can say Dallas is the better team when scoring has been your issue throughout the playoffs.
Dallas hasn't scored in the first period of any road game.
I'm not trying to be an ass but I know Dallas fans who are looking at that Colorado win as more fluke than miracle, given some recent events.
They are the better team by FAR. I watched every game by every team in the playoffs, and the Oilers haven’t even had to play their hardest ONCE vs Dallas. They had to play desperate furious hockey vs the Kings to win that series. The Kings would have annihilated the Stars.

Dallas has not been the better team. Only occasionally and only if you measure by sustained pressure and shot volume.
Not all shots are scoring chances and not all scoring chances are created equal. Plenty of times throughout this series, a sequence of sustained pressure for Dallas will result in a single incredible scoring chance for Edmonton. This is a sign that the Stars are cheating for pressure, leading to defenders getting burnt and backcheckers getting caught too far behind the play.
Even accounting for good sequences of sustained pressure, Dallas is looking aweful.
This series has been total domination by the Oilers the only period the Stars played better and the results showed that they played better was the 3rd perod of game 1. The rest the best they got was even in the 2nd period of game 3.
On paper this years team is better and are getting beat worse than last year.

Part of the reason Alaska’s butthole (edmonton) is winning this series, look at the hits per game stat. They’re in the Stars face constantly. They’re keeping the net clear in front of skinner, making him look like an nhl level goalie (which he’s not). He’s making easy routine stops. Of the few goals Dallas has scored this series, every last one was through a screen.
I like seeing Ryan mad and not holding back, but I would have much preferred a Stars win.
They put Raantanen against Draisaitl for the first two games. Now they are trying to keep him away Draisaitl. They are being out coached by a master chess player coach.

I agree with Ryan, sorry. The better team is the team that wins. If all you can manage is 2 goals in 3 games despite ‘outplaying’ the oilers in a few periods then you aren’t outplaying them. Their defence and goaltending are out playing your offence.

Ryan has no good takes or depth in his takes, Chris is a delusional stars fan it’s actually laughable, after the first game Dallas won, they were getting absolutely killed for the first two periods (you like to talk about good periods and not overall games Chris) the oilers look like the better team by far except for about 8 minutes in the third period. After that game I knew the oilers would have a very good chance to win this series because they blew the last game in 8 minutes. The rest of the games, the high danger chances, chances off the rush, are both in the oilers favour, the goaltending is in the oilers favour, the oilers thrive off rush chances with their speed going downhill, whenever the oilers have speed and numbers coming down it’s very dangerous, I can’t say the same for the stars, you guys have Sam Steel as your best player in this series and the rest of the guys including Rantanen are passengers. The defense structure by the oilers looks sound and the stars can not keep up with the oilers speed and talent.
I’ve grown to appreciate this oilers team cuz I’ve never seen the stars dominated like this. Can’t wait to see the final. Oilers are way better, I hope Jim nill doesn’t think we outplayed them just need more puck luck lol

The Stars are a fantastic team, but are not setting up as well, holding the O-zone, are getting crushed on odd man rushes, and are being kept to the outside during zone possession.
This is Edmonton's year. McDavid will hoist the cup in less than three weeks through sheer willpower.
