  1. 100% agree! But can he play puppet master and get Chicago to bite and move up to 1st OA to take Misa??? Honestly this draft has 2 very strong prospects at the top of this draft and both help the sharks. So it’s in his best interest to feign interest in moving up or down to create desperation around him and play Devils advocate (Lucifer not NJD) and wait for someone to come with an absurd return and if not just sit back and take whichever one is left standing.

  2. I am personally in camp just take Misa and build a ridiculous forward top-six, but if Grier really wants Shaefer, trading a collection of picks he's spent the last three years accumulating for the guy he wants is not "burning it down." That is using the picks to build your roster. The Sharks could keep the Dallas and Edmonton first round picks and end up with Misa and a couple of guys like Bordelau and Gushchin that are good but aren't likely to crack the Shark's roster considering the young players we know are going to be there already. Any trade of draft picks to move up has to be viewed in that light. Yes, that 29th overall could be a Datsyuk or Pavelski, but in reality it's much more likely to be a Brad Boyes or Marcel Goc. If the Sharks organization has decided that Shaefer is their guy and that's who they REALLY want, then I have no problem with moving 2 overall and 3-4 late first/early second picks to get him. That's why you accumulate those assets. To get the guy you want.

  3. I see the Sharks moving down as more likely then the Sharks trading a bunch of picks to move up. And I don't think the Sharks are moving down.

If the Sharks are trading a 1st rounder to move up, it'll be the Dallas pick.
