  1. Nice segment. Hopefully he ends up in a market where fans can appreciate him. It would be disappointing to see a talent like that go to Phoenix or Atlanta.

  2. Agree that hopefully he ends up in a nice market. Are a few options for him with the Leafs plummeting and Ottawa being down there as well. Regardless guy has a pretty bright future with that skill.

  3. I am so with you man.. seeing him not only with all the Avs memorabilia, but IN an Avs jersey has me really crossing my fingers for this guy that much more. A great sniper (and goalie) is exactly what the Avs need to rise from the grave to come out back on top.

  4. Now that the Avs no longer can't pick 2nd, they hopefully will draft Duchene.

Can't see us winning the lottery.

  5. I hope the Avs get this guy if they don't win the lottery! It is also awesome that he is an Avs fan making it even sweeter if they get him!

  6. i wouldn't be surprised if this guy ends up the best player in the draft and has the longest NHL career when all is said and done. ignore all the hedman/tavares hype. he is a well-rounded player, good speed, good character. he just scored a hat trick in a playoff game today. reminds me of zach parise or joe sakic….

  7. Islanders need to pick Tavares for marketing purposes. He will be ready to play in the league next year. However, in my opinion, Duchene will end up being the better player and have a more successful NHL career. This kid has intangibles, like Jonathan Toews, Mike Richards, and Zach Parise. Parise is so underrated, it's too bad he has to play in a dump of a market (New Jersey) and on an aging, veteran team. I just hope Duchene ends up in Toronto or Montreal, star players deserve a big stage….

  8. New Jersey couldn't even sell out a playoff game this year! Toronto and Montreal have just as bright of a future as New Jersey. Montreal has Price, Pacioretty, the Kostitsyn's, Weber, Maxwell and Toronto has Schenn, Bozak, Stalberg, Grabovski, Tlusty coming in. Both teams have more good young players than people assume, unlike New Jersey who have guys like Roloston, Zubrus, White, Madden, Pandolofo, Mottau and other veteran garbage. Parise is underappreciated in that market unfortunately. Sigh.

  9. I said NJ was a bad MARKET, not a team. They finished 3rd in the conference. But their slow d-men were exposed and Brodeur was outplayed by Ward. If you actually watch Toronto play this year, Ron Wilson has turned them into a blue collar team. They prob. would have made the playoffs if Toskala could stop a goal! Bettman does NOT want to see a Canadian team win and that's why there's such pro-American team reffing in the playoffs if anybody notices. Calgary was robbed Game 6 OT goal, etc. Sad.

  10. It looks like this kid is going to Colorado as it stands right now. Unless Burke can work his magic and trade up to 2nd. Sigh. Toronto deserves an elite talent to be the face of the franchise. I like seeing Canadian teams do well. Not to mention, all the endorsements he would get from playing in Toronto! I'm sure his agent would like that. He reminds me most of Zach Parise….I guess we'll see if I'm right in a few years.

  11. no chance colorado will give him up. espeically for MORE used up leaf garbage, they already have tucker and raycroft, no way they will go back to the leafs and get fucked again.

  12. Say what!? Proven young players are ALWAYS better than prospects. Most of these kids that get drafted this weekend won't make the NHL, that's just reality. If they offered Kessel for #3 to Colorado, they should take it. Kessel himself was a 1st-rounder. Same if Heatley was offered to Colorado for the #3 pick. Sigh, sometimes draft picks are overvalued.

  13. if your saying most players drafted wont make the nhl, your an idiot. if no player drafted played in the nhl, there would be no players.

  14. yeah he is he grew up and sakic was his hero and he loved the avs im a huge fan and i am so glad we have him

  15. I was saying that if Colorado had been offered Phil Kessel (proven young player) for the #3 pick, they should have taken it. Remember, Kessel himself was a high 1st-round pick and any team would be lucky to have a prospect turn out that good. I think Duchene is a future star but at the end of the day, a young, star nhl player >> unproven prospect, unless you don't consider Phil Kessel a rising star! That's all I meant.

  16. oh, haha, i get it now, sorry i didnt understand. Thats the risk you take signing young players, hopefully he'll grow and become a good player, but yeah, they probably would take the kessel offer if it came up

  17. No, you don't. If your team is struggling and in as deep as the Avs are now you'd want to pick the younger guy and right now the Avs are dumping off cap so why would you trade for the Negotiating Rights of Kessel who would probably want a pretty hefty contract that the Avs need to save up for the future of the organization.

  18. The fact that Matt was a Avalnche fan to begiun with made getting him for the Avs all the more sweeter. So far he has not done bad at all. Keep on going Matt and good luck for the rest of the season.

  19. @battalionmedia Yea but Wolski is a tool. I'm so happy avs got rid of him and got Mueller. Who knows how far the Avs would have gone if Mueller played in the playoffs. The line of Duchene, Mueller and Hejduk was unstoppable before Mueller got injured.

  20. Colorado is awfully lucky to have this guy on their team. He's going to be one of the best players in the nhl. I like him because he's not only awesome at offense, but also dependable defensively as well.
