Actually, I do doubt it. Must note Ehler's linemates are Scheifele and Vilardi so technically he's the smallest guy on that line and the Habs current roster lacks enough size to probably to protect him from hits. I feel he would be flatten if brought here.
Bogdan feels left out of the Habs future plans, management needs to show him some love! Cmon Kent the guy is a blue chipper!
Love that Bogdan is a RD. Seems to have a good character. Good luck to him and hope to see him in the NA in the 26-27 season
Don't forget, Laine has yet to play with an elite center like Suzuki. When he was playing with Suzuki on the PP he was able to use his one-dimensional game (one timer) to our advantage. Get him a real 2C and Demigod and I think he could be a 40-50 goal guy. I am on the Bogdan Tobogan with you Josh, looking forward to seeing what he does in camp! Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!
I don’t know too much about Ehler’s compete level so I can’t comment on him in relation to what I am about to say. But I’m not a huge proponent of this idea that size is a virtue in itself. Sure it is nice , in theory but a rocket also isn’t much of a rocket without fuel and a spark to project it into space. Look at laine , slaf … big dudes who play without grit. I’m hoping slaf will come around as he matures physically but I’d take smaller guys like Bennett and Marchand over 6’3 or bigger guys with no compete. Give me Gallaghers and Sean avery’s all day. These guys are what we need. We need people who are willing to sacrifice their bodies for wins. That’s why I still have lots of faith in Dach ( as a winger ) because he has that grit and the size.
I think if we can afford it we should do everything we can to try and get a Bennett or a Marchand in free agency and than use our draft capital to make a trade for more sand paper and someone who can win faceoffs as 3c so Evan’s can play on the 4th and pk 1/2 ( move newhook and dach to the wings ) I would try to target somone like , kadri , byfield , schenn and oaul (assuming we could get a Bennett or Jamie Benn as our 2/3 c in free agency )
I dont beleive the Ehlers rumors but i guess we gots to create content right? Lol. We need size. Thats why Farell , Mesar and all other small guys in Laval will never make it with the big club even if they perform.
Hey Josh, Im curious, why would you be interested in acquiring (players/picks) a 34 year old Marchessault and soon to be 38 Crosby (along with their cap hits), yet you question the long term future of a 29 year old Ehlers? (Cap hit ony). (Im not ranking one player over the other). Just asking?
The Habs need to leave all those 30+ players right where they are .. stick to the plan.. if a 2C player that fits into the age group of the core is available,go for it . Trade as many draft picks , Mallioux, other 3rd , 4th line prospects as it takes to get him.

I'm liking that there are so many players that want to come to Montreal. The future looks bright indeed. Not sure about Ehlers. I'm keen to see the dev camp and what Boggie can show. Thanks Josh.

Montreal only has $6 million in cap space due to overages from bonuses. They cannot afford big contract s unless they activate Price LTIR. I doubt they want to do that.
