Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio camped out at Lenovo Center following the end of season press conference for the Carolina Hurricanes. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour sat down with the guys to discuss what he felt was one of the better seasons in franchise history given the context of the full year. However, they still came up short of the Stanley Cup goal. How is Brind’Amour processing another Eastern Conference Finals exit, dealing with disgruntled fans for the first time as a head coach, and how will the Canes go about getting to a higher level. He also discusses the process of getting Alexander Nikishin into the games. GM Eric Tulsky then joined the podcast to discuss the different philosophy going into this offseason compared to the last.

So we went from "Two Joes, One Cup" to just a couple of Joes playing around with their Rod…..
If Mikko Rantanen was just taking a hockey break as Coach Brind'Amour suggests, should you just give him a Happy and Hale Card the next time he's in the Triangle with the Dallas Stars?
The idiots calling in to say crap about HCRB'A – are just that IDIOTS. I ignore them.. I've been a STM for 23 years – by far the best coach we've had.
WFU’s coach is 100% right. Dude’s a complete toolbag
Its very encouraging to hear Rod talk about Burns being in the best place to succeed playing as a 2nd or 3rd pairing. He brings so much veteran leadership and knowledge that can be crucial for developing Nikishin and Morrow. I'd love to see him back on a smaller contract playing on a lower pairing, that will put him and the team in the best place to excel in the short and long term.
Rod is the best . He is o candid I love that from our coach. The canes should keep him as long as he wants to be here
I love hearing Rod's objective perspective on Burns. Setting aside the love for Burns, I'm to the point where it feels criminal if we do not sign Burns. I was never fully on the Burns is toast bandwagon, but it influenced me for sure, and now I can't jump off that BS quickly enough. Tulsky! Bring this man back!
A lot of the ranked and favored host teams got upset in the NCAA Baseball Tournament Round of 64, including Vanderbilt, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Clemson, Ole Miss and Oregon. Baseball is a total crap shoot, more so than football and basketball. If you get a couple of bad pitching matchups, or have to go through too many arms in a double elimination tournament, your season could end quicker than anticipated.
Out of the nine teams that the ACC got into the field, they pushed five through to the Sweet 16, or Super Regionals. Wake had to play the defending national champion in Knoxville, and after dropping its opener to Cincinnati on Friday afternoon, staved off elimination by beating each team in the Knoxville region over the next two days before dropping the final elimination game to the Volunteers on Monday night.
The SEC got 14 teams into the field, but only four of them made it to the Supers, and with Tennessee advancing to play Arkansas in one matchup, Joey Gigs is correct in pointing out that the league cannot send more than three of its members on to Omaha. The ACC could send as many as four, since you have Miami and Louisville battling each other for one of the eight slots in Omaha.
We got more with less this year imo. I trust rod and think we will make good moves this off season.
