What is tough about the call? The puck was long gone, and besides that it was an obvious slew footing, with intent to injure. But yeah otherwise perfectly good.
Remember that the rule states that players can finish their checks only if they're already committed to the hit when possession is lost. Excellent analysis in that, if Blackwell continues on his path it's a clean hit, but because he shifts body position to initiate contact after the puck is lost, this is interference.
The surprising thing to me, IMO, is that this was called.
