come on baby let’s go sexy show me [Music] some taking it at first nicely able to step away strong they SC here’s a chance ptra right in on goalie scores oh my what a move by the rookie two onone poster knock moving in with marshan get it to it score of the Zone Cole dances in back and score LOL right wi Corner poster knock is there he scores David poock wi it for [Applause] Boston all right welcome in everyone to another episode of Bruins tape to tape it is September 24th and training uh has begun the official um pre-season has started and so we are ready to kick it off and start talking real hockey now I’m joined as always with my co-host Maria from Watertown so hey Maria hey Caroline I’m so excited we actually have some a game to break down I know I know I can’t believe it and uh for our longtime listeners you may have enjoyed we’ve got a little new intro music uh in today’s episode so thanks to Friend of the Pod Adrien for putting his super awesome skills to the to the cause as it were um so you’ll see some more uh fun stuff rolling out as we get closer to the official start of the season but to truly talk deep hockey deep Bruins hockey today we’ve brought on uh we’ll call them members of the family the the the hockey podcast Network family um welcome welome in to cam and Drew and say hey guys hey what’s going on thanks so much for having us it’s a pleasure to be joining you thanks for joining us yeah tell us a little bit about your uh podcast Journey yeah I can I can jump in here and Drew can fill in some gaps so um Drew and our other co-host Chris who is on parenting duty tonight so cannot join us unfortunately uh and myself used to be um colleagues at the hockey writers uh site we did uh some coverage there for a while um kind of had all become friends covering the broons together um together but separately I guess um and I think it was Drew who made a kind of an off-handed joke of what now four four or five years ago at this point about hey we should start a podcast together and then one of us dm’ the other one was like so are you joking or like are you you know we were like yeah let’s let’s give it a shot um we all kind of had discovered that obviously we have a love for the Bruins and we also share love for for craft beer um and and some light beers especially Miller Light but we that’s beside the point um and decided you know let’s take this a little bit more casually we don’t want to do any you know ESPN style coverage we want something that’s a little bit more casual kind of you know hanging at the bar CH chatting up about the team and so we decided to uh start a podcast about our joint love for for craft beer and of course the Boston Bruins and now uh wow four years and and five plus Seasons later we’re still here doing it so it’s been it’s been a right and the the pandemic hit in hockey stopped about a month after we started the podcast you’re responsible for the pandemic it wasn’t birthday it was you um but it actually kind of did wonders for us because it just kind of gave us this environment where like well there’s nothing hockey to talk about so let’s talk about beer and let’s like come up with some other stuff to do for wacky segments and that kind of you kept with our theme of not caring a little forced creativity for sure but um exactly help this kind of find our nich it’s the perfect name then brew and Bruins um I did bring my Brew tonight although because I am gluten-free I’ve got myself my cider so I’m here tonight uh because I am not on parenting Duty so hopefully there’s no loud noises above me um as we I miss the memo I’m I’m I’m bruess over here ah okay that’s okay next next week when you’re the host Maria oh that should go over well me drinking while I’m trying to host yeah absolutely so uh a little housekeeping uh some news just around uh in the Bruins world so uh if you saw online uh Loki Johansson did return to monton uh for his team out in the mjhl which you know I don’t think anyone should really read too too much into that as far as I could tell from you know articles and and posts online that was as to be expected um because he’s committed there so tonight’s game uh against the capitals is probably going to be the last sort of harah for some folks potentially we got a couple of repeat guys there so you know now is when it’s going to start to get interesting we’ve got a couple of uh veterans playing there but um it’s well we’ll get into the we’ll get into the game but the other uh housekeeping piece is we are actually going to be hosting a watch party for opening night yay against the Panthers boo um so if you want to join us um you know stay tuned uh keep an eye out on the various social medias um you know Twitter X threads B on Instagram wherever um so you can watch with us as hopefully that Stanley Cup Banner raising lights of fire under the Bruins ass for the season um but let’s dive into the that very first game and how the preseason has been going do you guys have you been following really closely what’s your your take on how some of these prospects and these hopefuls have been doing so far in Camp and in the first game yeah it’s been it’s been interesting I feel like I usually am not particularly checked into to preseason just because I mean for the last few years and really I feels like the last decade or so the Bruins have kind of had like a mostly set roster maybe the exception of last year but you kind of knew all right berser on and C onec 2C you’re gonna have whoever was the fill in and third at the time maybe there was a fourth line Wing Spot up for grabs or like you know a seventh defens role um other than that nothing too much in Jeopardy kind of going into the preseason so um this year’s a little different I did miss most the first game I was out hiking um but it was a five o’clock game I mean I listened to half of it because I’m like I’m still in the middle of my day exactly not ready tough but um but yeah no I mean it’s a little bit more interesting this year because it does feel like there are more spots up for grabs and and kind of more people in contention to grab those roles um especially kind of on the prospect side obviously you’ve got uh Matthew Patra who’s looking healthy apparently looking a lot bigger this this preseason um really excited to see kind of what he can do I don’t think he played that first game um but excited to kind of see what he can do when he steps into the lineup I know there’s been some discussion about uh is always eligible for Providence are they gonna like I I think he’s he’s a lock to make this team um but then you keep going down lysel and merkulov and and there’s a couple of guys who are kind of sort of on the bubble you know it really depends on how they perform not only in the games but just what the coaches think of them in in you know training camp and that sort of thing where um there are more decisions to be made this year than in years past and then even looking at the goenda whether or night’s gonna get signed before opening night on October 8th that’s a question mark right now in which case Corpus solo busy like what’s going to be kind of the plan for for who gets that first you know opening night start and and kind of is the the guy from there so um not as exciting as the regular season of course but still some some more decisions to be made than usual and and for that reason I I am tuning in tonight for for the first time and it feels nice to have the Bruins on the screen again thank God we were talking about those very points um before you you guys joined us on on air where I said you know this this year is the first time that I can remember that they’re actually you know legitimate spots that guys can V for which makes it all the more um I don’t want to say troubling but things that make you go H when you see you know the a Fabian lysel who didn’t really seem to be putting in the effort that one should be putting in to win one of those spots and you know mov was not too far behind him in in my that’s just my view of of what I saw in game one but I thought to myself s what are you guys doing to stand out here you know yeah yeah Drew did you get a chance to watch the game I did not I did not watch the hockey game which is the inside joke on the bru and Bruins podcast um but I I think especially with Lazelle and some of the higher end prospects that you know looking to make the leap this season it kind of it it’s kind of comes down to where they are going to slot in right like would you want Lazelle on the fourth line or would you want him on the second line playing with second line talent and getting those minut and becoming that player they want him to be uh versus you know Topline minutes in the AHL so I think you know in terms of Lazelle like if the only open spot is on the fourth line because they’re like sorry the top six is set you didn’t perform in the preseason or whatever then I’d rather him maybe start out the year in the AHL get those minutes and then come up when there is eventually a spot because we’re going to see injuries and we’re going to see rookies pretty much filling those slots because of our lack of depth uh this time around so um and same for Merlo but yeah it is interesting to see that there are like High Caliber positions out there up for grabs I mean defense is pretty much locked down I would think but on offense there are a lot of holes there um and a lot of guys just on the roster that you’re also looking to step up like can Trent Frederick have a year like he just had um for example so yeah it’ll be interesting to see for sure where you know a guy like Lazelle eventually winds up in in the coaching staff’s eyes but even even on defense I know you know we we we’ve got some great depth but to your point there’s there’s always injuries particularly with defenseman so you know I remember Mason laai doing in Camp last year he made himself stand out where you’re like oh he’s might making it hard he he could you know he was a kid that you could see if you gave him the NHL minutes that he could you know continue to to get better shift after shift after shift which is why it was I would think relatively easy to make the decision to bring him back up when there was an injury so you know sometimes I I just you know look at these kids and say you know you got to take advantage of the opportunities when they’re presented to you because you don’t know when those opportunities may come along again yeah I think what was so surprising for me about lysel because I I don’t watch the PE Bruins I don’t I don’t live in New York I live in New York state I don’t live in Massachusetts right so like I can’t go see them I’m not GNA watch them but you know I hear uh from other folks online you know who do cover the PE Bruins who do have the opportunity to go see them a lot and they talk a lot about the sheer talent that they see and you know oh this potential that they see in players like busy or like lysel and they’ve been talking about them for years at this point like man these guys they’re better than some of the current players and blah blah blah blah blah and so I’ve been waiting I’ve been told for years now oh man this LEL this Li my dad he’s asking me all the time he’s like the deal with liel like where is he what’s going on because he knows that I I find out right and then so on a Sunday late afternoon you know I’m listening to the game for the most part and the fact I realized by the time I sat down to actually watch the third period I’m like I haven’t heard this guy’s name like at all I think for me that’s just another perfect example of how there is still such a big Divide from the level of play in the AHL to the NHL you know it’s you can be a phenomenal AHL player no doubt right but there is still that other level that these players have that they can dig deep into and perform in a completely different way and the fact that he was playing with fellow P Bruins so it shouldn’t have been that hard to kind of Stand Out amongst them and he didn’t to me was actually a little bit not alarming but like oh this is the guy that we’re supposed to have be the future the next Elite shooter who’s supposed to you know follow David postero and whomever I don’t know what was your take like from hearing people talk about how he was serving up a big nothing burger what was your take on hearing that what were your thoughts yeah I’m the lell question is interesting because I’m and I think Drew would agree with me I’m not one of those people who’s like first round pick at 18 years old like have to perform by 19 or else they’re but you know what I mean like some everybody’s development is different right that being said you are three years out from his draft at this point and I’ve heard a lot of good things again and he’s had a couple of chances to crack the roster hasn’t really like you said taken advantage of it yet I’m not not like out oh he’s a bust he’s you know I mean time to move on kind of thing but the question does start to come in my head a little bit of like how long will Le do you give him especially if the only opportunities that you have are now starting to be filled by other people right like again I I think you slot potra into any role ahead of right now I don’t think it’s even a question and that doesn’t mean that another position won’t open up for lell right but like at some point you kind of have to wonder like all right how much longer Le do you give him another year do you another two years right he’s getting into his early 20s then or do you try to flip him granted probably doesn’t have a ton of value right now because all he’s done is is you know play in the in the AHL at this point um so that’s where you’re really hoping that like he at least makes it tough right if he doesn’t make the team out of Camp chances are you’re going to see him at some point throughout the season when an injury to a skilled player Pops in you’re not going to want to replace him with a depth guy who’s just there for size and that sort of thing right you’re going to want somebody who has a little bit more pop call his name and and he can earn an opportunity then during the regular season right but you still want to put yourself especially if you are like seller merula right like those guys are competing against each other too to to get that call when it happens right and and so you want to give yourself every opportunity that you can to make it as as difficult as you can for the coach to not call your number when when the time is is is there even if it’s not you know in in a week and a half here on opening nights so um I’m curious to see I think this is a huge season for him and his development um even if he doesn’t make the team out of Camp I hope he’s not disheartened and and really puts himself in a position down in Providence where as soon as that that first opening is there he’s he’s forcing you know Sweeney and Montgomery to call his name yeah definitely I mean you know you you do hope that it’s not another uh Jack stud Mika situation again because that’s just unfortunate right exactly to see that exactly um so thinking a little bit about the gold ending what what is your take on Brandon busy thoughts on him I mean again in this particular game he was a little bit disappointing and I’ve seen him play you know I saw him I think he play he had a game last season I think and he did a pretty good job um but he also kind of came out really flat in this last game and DPO also like man they were okay concerns especially considering our current situation uh and the as we have dubbed at the backup for San for the future that’s that’s what he is unless he Wows and becomes starting caliber himself which maybe he will one day and hopefully hopefully but for the foreseeable future once they get the deal done cuz they will and they’ll make us wait and hopefully before the season starts but like Sween had said December 1 deadline we get it done and that that’s great um but I mean going forward whoever your other goenda and Swan’s that guy so um but Corpus solo to start the season as potentially your starter backed up by busy is just not a great Outlook but I mean the bru seem to have good defense this year um and are known to have a lot of two-way forwards even like poster KN their top score has a great two-way game um for that you know caliber of player hopefully that helps out um but definitely if Swan’s not in there for like the opening opening night then I have kind of some concerns about maybe it’s not the difference though it could be of making the playoffs or not uh but still like okay then what is my expectation for the start of the season is it to be above 500 or is it to be above 600 um you know or with San where the expectation would be hey you guys from the get-go are looking like you’re you’re competing for a playoff spot so uh I feel very uncomfortable if it’s just those two uh for a prolonged period of time like all of September and then you’re looking October so or sorry October and then you’re looking November not there a stark contrast to the last couple of Seasons where the Bruins have gone in with absolutely no questions at all related to goal tending they they’ve seemingly had one of the best goal tending tandems in the league for the last couple of seasons and there were questions you know in other areas where this year you know we still have you know some some questions but we got a big question mark when it comes to our go goal tending and you know I I’m I don’t think any of us as Bruins fans have any comfort level going into a prolonged start to the season yeah with yonas Corp pasalo as your number one and Brandon busy as as your number two and it’s not you know nothing to disparage their abilities as as goal tending it’s just not the road map that I think you were planning to build to start this season when you went out and grabbed Nikita zadorov and Elias Lindholm yeah absolutely I think any any way you cut it like even if the options for Plan B are are strong you’re still losing right now world class golender and Jeremy Swan right so um I still think there’s a good chance it gets done before opening night I think it’s just I mean it would be a pretty awful look frankly if it doesn’t get done before then not that that necessarily has to stop it right like if they wait another week or two into the season they sign up he comes in plays well everybody forgets about it by January kind of thing it’s not a big deal um but it’s still not the best look for for the organization and people would say not great for sing either but I I yeah I tend to be pretty Pro Player on this but um but still I mean it’s gonna be interesting I think with with Corpus solo for example like Drew kind of mentioned the Bruins have a really strong defensive system um and they’ve had a history of of taking goenda them within their system whether it’s go tending coach they seem to have that magic touch with goalie coach Bob and and the squad there but um I think two things can be true I think that can be true but also you look at Corpus Solo’s underlying numbers and they aren’t particularly promising it’s it’s a much different situation than you know when they uh when they pulled lenus omark from Buffalo a few years ago as as kind of a diamond in the rough and were’re able to turn him from a a a pretty good golender to begin with into a vzna trophy winner they literally saved his career by helping I was listening to your guys’s most recent uh episode and uh so I was gonna bring this up because we might as well just talk about the man of the hour right uh and goal tending in general and so Maria and I tend to have this um we’ll call it a thought experiment because it’s not a disagreement we’re in agreement but I like to play Devil’s Advocate and I will say you know I’ve been a Bruins fan for a really long time I’ve learned how to be uh okay with disappointment and I try not to be the pessimist because there’s there’s no fan uh who can go after the Bruins as hard as a Bruins fan right and so I’m like all right I got to give him a little more grace and seeing the last couple of years I’ve tried to convince myself to trust the process especially with uh goalie Bob and seeing what he did with Lena Sark I mean I didn’t know who he was really before they took him from Buffalo all I knew was Buffalo has been a mid team at best if not just a basement dwelling team for a very long time and like I can’t really then judge any individual player on Buffalo’s team because I just know like look they can’t even get they can’t get it together right whatever it is they can’t get it together and then to see them take this guy and within a year essentially turn him into this VZ player I’ve been saying look Corpus he’s had good numbers in the past he’s not terrible terrible surely somebody saw something there that they could work with but an interesting comment I think that one of you guys had said was that lenus was a good player in front of a bad team but Corpus solo is a bad player in front of or behind a bad team and I was like oh no so can the Bruins defense which again that defensive structure has been part of their DNA for ever right for as long as I can remember and knowing that they truly beefed up that blue line in the off season in a way that I haven’t seen in such a long time is there enough there that you could have some hope to make it for a long longer period of time like can we limp along or are you like firmly in the camp of like there’s just there’s nothing like it’s got to be San we can’t spend a month without him yeah I I lean more toward the first I I think the Bruins are a strong enough team um that they and I guess it depends what your goal is right do you want to try to win the division that’s going to be a little tough do you want to just playoffs probably finish second or third again you know what I mean like the play Toronto again in the first round because the playoff system is terrible nowadays like yeah I think they’re good enough to do that I don’t think having a subpar goenda most important position on the ice but it’s not like you know it’s a a youth hockey kid they’re thrown in there right right um it is still an NHL goal tender granted probably one of the worst ones statistically over the over the last few seasons um go saved above average for example if you look on on hockey reference is quite poor and is getting worse um yeah that being said hopefully a little bit of a bump from from working within this Bruin system and and the magic of of goalie coach Bob as we’ve mentioned before um again a much different bump than we saw with Omar I think hopefully getting him to a level where he’s serviceable and is not actively causing the team to lose games um I think that they’re fine enough to especially if it’s a few weeks to to stay at a health level you just you don’t want to start the season off with a disaster right like two and eight or something right like you don’t need to go out and and the Bruins have been remarkable to start the season the last few years they’ve had these crazy runs to start the season that have kind of set them up for Success you don’t have to do that every year right but it’s kind of like you can’t make the playoffs in the first month of the season but you can do a pretty good job of keeping yourselves out of it right you just need to kind of avoid disaster if they can stay you know a few games above 500 get Jeremy swiming in there play for 75% of the games from there on out until he’s down the stretch and needs some rest and ideally you’re in a comfortable enough position there I think that’s a a fine thing to do um that being said it’s not ideal right you don’t want to put yourself into a position where those games later in the season are are really important right so um obviously the sooner you can get them back the better but I don’t think you know hopefully it’s not December 1st but if it’s November 1 I don’t think the season’s over by any means yeah I think it hinges on what those 18 skaters are able to do on the ice because as we’ve kind of talked about earlier there’s a lot of question marks there which means what are the expectations you know that’s a big question mark is this going to be a team that is just scraping by and making it into the wild card position like to begin with um like I think you know if you you have to wait on swayan for about a month I’d give it I’d be like okay but if this team is the kind of a team that’s going to sneak into the playoffs even with San buying them some wins here and there then that it could come down to one game you know and that one game was a loss by Corp pasalo back in October or something like that um right so but I don’t think it’s the end of the world it’s a long long season um and I think uh we don’t we won’t really know what this team can do regard till December regardless if we’re going to have all these kind of young players you got to see if they stick some guys will probably get nine game Trials or in that kind of thing too so um but I’m I’m not like panicking but if if this team doesn’t perform and is that Bonafide playoff team by the end of the season then these early games without swaying could could really have an impact yeah yeah these early games are those games that like we’ve heard people say time and time again these are the games that you want to collect that you need to have in your back pocket come April when your guys are tired and maybe they can’t quite perform as well or you’ve got guys on you know load management and so of course maybe that’s the loss and you’re trying to get across the Finish Line um is it is it plaus I just have a question just because I like to stir stir the stir the [ __ ] pot where it comes to sing and sweing and whatever’s going on there the drama yeah I love a good drama show um is it plausible is it plausible to think that there is a possibility that swayan on the advice of his agent maybe because we know it’s the same agent that represented William neander Will intentionally be holding out his client to see how the team fares during that first month or two of the season in terms of looking at you know a potential more leverage positioning for his client it it seems like San the person wouldn’t he he just wants to play hockey he just seems like that kind of person like obviously every hockey player is kind of like that but I feel like he’s some someone that wouldn’t want that to get in the way that’s interesting I didn’t know he had the same agent as did that whole history but I don’t see him as the kind of guy that would wait it out because of that but I think it’s kind of some of the argument that like people aren’t aren’t liking San because he’s bargaining is just kind of BS he’s this is going to be the longest and the most expensive contract of his career um and he should fight for every penny he can 100% I but I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that’s going to want to wait to December and miss so much hockey cuz that’s harmful to him in his development he’s still a young gold tender he has had some great Seasons as a like part-time starting goenda hmark so I think this is an important year for him personally too so I don’t see him letting it go too much further than a few weeks into the season if that even yeah I um I laughed when I was also listening to you guys’s most recent episode um because uh you were talking about that you know fans are going to turn on him like Ras we like to call it the Matt grizzli treatment basically it’s like the love and hate right and they will turn um and you will then just they’ll they’ll love you when you’re doing fine but you make a little mistake something and you’re dead to them right I I’m curious to hear your take on this cam as well because I Maria I don’t know if you had caught this on uh the skate pod recently um but they there so that’s the um I don’t know if you guys are if you live in New England but it’s um Wei and uh they were saying how with William neander he actually handed over all Reigns to the agent and effectively removed himself completely from that entire conversation and knowing that now and having heard Maria’s theory for several weeks months at this point I was likeor maybe that’s really what’s happening is he’s just said I’m putting my faith in you because last year I got too emotionally invested I don’t want to be emotionally you know hurt by that conversation again so you go and you do and I trust you so yeah cam I’d love to hear your take as well have you heard this Theory like has this kind of come across your your desk I have heard it yeah I I’m kind of skeptical as well I think um granted I don’t know the guy personally but just from what I’ve seen about Swan I think he really does want to play and I I don’t think he wants to delay and and like like frankly he knows he’s gonna hurt the team too right so yeah um I think it’s it’s possible that he could have said look I don’t want to be in the room talking money I don’t want like you handle all of that but like get me a deal by the time like Swan’s got nothing to prove right now he can jump into a warm-up game right but like doesn’t really probably need it right so he’s doing his own training it’s not like he’s falling behind on that aspect he’s not fighting for a roster spot obviously right um so as far as the preseason goes him missing missing Camp is not a big deal um but I I would be a little surprised if he is is willing to let it unless he’s really getting bald which would also surprise me a little bit um is willing to let it drag out that long um again I I definitely could see a situation because he was he was pretty public about kind of what happened the first time around with with the potential for arbitration and all that um I think his line was like you know I heard things that no player should hear kind of thing I totally get that and I could see a situation where he said look I don’t want anything to do with this like I get me the best deal I can get I’m gonna not I’m not going to be there for it but like you know I I would be a little surprised if that didn’t come with the caveat of of you know Make It Happen by X date because I don’t want to be missing two months of the Season kind of thing right so um everybody’s guessing I guess at this point we’ll never know probably it’s not I I you know what I mean I I doubt it’s ever going to come to light unless as we were talking about prep pod the Amazon documentary maybe he’s got some some insight for us but it’s it’s better or if um what’s what’s the agent’s name lisis gross unless he writes like a memoir or you know s writes a memoir so we’re not going to know for like 30 40 years yeah or uh who was who was Mark Andre flurry’s agent who tweeted out the graphic of him getting stabbed through the chest or whatever remember that one so God that was that was epic yeah that was epic I don’t think the same guy but yeah who knows what’s going on behind closed doors um but I I would be a little surprised if he was intentionally at least saying don’t sign anything until later on if for whatever reason they can’t get a deal on and it does bleed in the season um that I could see happening I don’t think it’s super likely um obviously we don’t have that much more time so I probably would have said no chance of it a month ago and now going with pretty unlikely but um I don’t think it’s it’s a deliberate move to to push it in for you know for the monetary game there and I just can’t imagine a scenario where th this kid wouldn’t want to be the starting goalie on October 8th when the Bruins go into Sunrise Florida and have to stand there and watch the Panthers raise that that Banner you know I mean these these these guys are all you know for the most part competitive beasts yeah so I I find it you know almost unimaginable yeah that he would not want to to be on the ice and suited up for that game so I agree that’s something I say a lot that I have to kind of remind myself is like these guys aren’t built like us right like you don’t get to that level unless you are so so so competitive that it is it is genuinely physically hurting you to not be playing in those in those situations right so um as much as we can try to like logic our way through it and like put ourselves in those shoes like it’s just a gene that that frankly most of us don’t have right you simply cannot get to that level without wanting it that much more badly than than everybody else so I think that’s something you have to consider Maria I think that’s a good point is like how much is he gonna be willing to sit there and a guy who’s been pretty um locker room team first to like let his guys go down there and and granted you know like one game is one game but how long is he gonna let his team suffer frankly he knows that he’s he’s the missing key right now um you know for for you know at his expense or rather at their expense so it’s a it’s an interesting point yeah maybe Coro just isn’t a good hugger so he’s you gota sign someone someone for me to hug and that could definitely be a part of it actually yeah yeah yeah he’s just like um no no and you know I’ve been a Bruins fan um a little bit longer than than uh the three of you here and have seen some some shitty [ __ ] that has gone on with the management past with regard to to negotiations and and how treat or don’t treat players now you know it’s been a little different under the dawn Sweeny regime but the DNA you know is is is still is still there so you know n you know nine times out of 10 I’m on I’m on the players side of things and you know my frustration is I expected this to be the number one priority over and above everything else going into the upcoming season and you know i’ I’ve made this point to which the response is well how do you know Maria it wasn’t a priority well I don’t because you know we haven’t heard from anybody so where do you think my loyalty is going to lie or where do you think I’m going to be looking a bit suspicious you know I’m going to be looking at at management and wondering like what what is going on here yeah Don just give the man his money he’s OB like you know we we joke like we’re we we’ve got our own other conspiracy theories in the in the Discord where we’re you know we’re we’re always asking ourselves like man you think it’s term is it is it this is it that like man we’re talking about like 10 games literally if Jeremy Swan had played 10 more games five more games we wouldn’t be having this conversation but we will never know like you said sometimes it’s all it takes well some final thoughts because uh I know I want to definitely uh get my eyes on uh Fabian lel’s uh game tonight and he’s moving he’s moving much better I’ve been streaming the game here yeah the Bruins are up one to nothing although I don’t know who scored but um he seems to have a little bit more jump to his game that he did the other night what are your expectations for the year in terms of how the Bruins finish I think everybody was kind of all in agreement across Bruins Nation that it was you gotta get to the second round of of the playoffs this year it seems like it could be a multitude of things that would hit that yes this was what we had to do um and of course obviously the ultimate goal obviously being the cup but that aside for you guys what do you want to see what tells you Yep this was a good season yeah the The Benchmark for me every year don’t lose to Toronto it’s so funny that they beat every single year and like like eventually it’s not gonna happen and it’s gonna be a very sad day just don’t get knocked out by Toronto as number one um outside of that I think I mean yes last yesterday’s last season’s team impressed me a lot frankly I I had pretty mild expectations probably a wild card team I had said going in um maybe be able to steal a first round series but wasn’t that surprised to see him lose out um much stronger last year than I was kind of anticipating uh frankly I think they could have won another series had they not run into Florida again I think I think even Florida said that the the toughest team they played throughout the playoffs was the Bruins um this year I actually think this this team has higher potential I’m not going to say they’re quite a cup Contender yet um obviously you make the playoffs you never know what can happen and we’ve seen I mean the 2011 Bruins team barely got in right so I know so I but I do think on paper at least we’ll see how it translates that this team if if pieces fall in the right place could be an upgrade from last season so um always tough this time of year before a real games been played to make a prediction or or set those expectations but um obviously you need to make the playoffs um obviously you cannot lose to Toronto again which like they’ll probably play him in the first round again because it seems to happen every year yeah my blood pressure my anxiety can’t do that again same but watching poster score that overtime winner at the bar was one of the best moments in my year so I will I maybe it was worth it speaking speaking of William neander who was out to lunch and just let Just Dance right in yeah but uh but no I think uh I think you need to at least get to where you were last season um in the second round ideally move past that but um I think at the very least you you want to match what you did last year because I think on paper again obviously the goal tending is is going to be a little bit less exciting than it was last year but frankly once you get to the playoffs anyway chances are you’re gonna run one goal tender anyway right so get in the playoffs let swayman hopefully Assuming he’s healthy um just let him cook and and at least win a series if not to and then see if you can make a little run yeah I I agree with Cam I think second round at least and then hope because if you get to the second round that’s just a stagnant season you did what you did last year like okay step forward is getting to that third round as as high as that expectation really is you’re got to be the among the final four teams but that’s what is technically a step forward um but yeah I think a first round exit and God forbid not even making the playoffs is a huge setback um yeah but yeah you got to at least get to the second round I don’t care how they get into the playoffs that can be as the the eighth seed the the last wild card spot or win the division or win the conference when the president’s trophy I don’t care you get in hopefully not hopefully not the president we don’t want that want to see that I don’t want to see that again I think the Bruins need to be a way uh like not have home ICE Advantage pretty much throughout the playoffs in order to have success Abal record at home power yeah but yeah they got to at least make it to the second round and hopefully Beyond otherwise it’s it’s like where do you go from there you know like you have this core still here you have these younger players coming in that will be a part of the eventual new core but you still have these core players like Marsha and poock and McAvoy and Swan and so if they’re taking a step back like what do you need to do then then you’re in a situation where well we have an offseason where we really need to juggle this team rather than just adding plugging in holes you know which is kind of what they’re the situation there and now yeah yeah can they swing another few years of potential cup runs without ever having to have gone through an actual real rebuild because they have never done it and I’ve been waiting it for it for a while now and I expected it uh probably That season that they went and had the winningest season I expected that year to be like okay this is it this is where I gotta say goodbye to 20 years of being on top and I’m like uh oh when is it gonna happen now yeah ownership would not tolerate that ownership’s expectation is to have seats in the building butts in the building I don’t Maria they tolerated it for all of the 80s and most of the90s so I don’t know until they did until it reached a Breaking Point with Mr Jacobs when season ticket holders were running out of the building as fast as the rats did when they tore down the old TV Garden well here’s hoping we don’t have to 1. I love it you guys are cross-breeding, very interesting first two games of the preseason, I'm very curious about this training camp offer for a veteran at the bruins have given to Tyler Johnson, he could actually make things very interesting, And I do like the fact that he can play center a little bit even though he's majority wing, but I do think a huge key in terms of scoring is going to be brazeau
