Mackenzie Blackwood has his first career NHL playoff game against the Dallas Stars. This is considered by some, the best series in the first round of the Western Conference Finals. Blackwood played PHENOMENAL tonight! He helped propel the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-1 win over the Dallas Stars.

let's go avs
that opener😂
Quite a few things on my mind here about this game:
– Two words: MACKENZIE. BLACKWOOD. Such a big improvement over Georgiev so far. Looked like a TANK last night.
– The PP Marchment drew that the Stars scored on should not have happened. Marchment was clearly committing embellishment, should have been 4-on-4 at least. Another tangent on this: Hintz, Marchment, and Benn are major concerns for me, as they'll probably play dirtier in the next games.
– I think you're right about Game 2 being a must win for Dallas. They're now on an 8-game losing streak. There's no certainty on when they'll have Miro Heiskanen or Jason Robertson back (Robertson is prob out of action until a potential Game 6, Heiskanen might get back while they're in Colorado or even in Game 2). Dallas has to break their negative momentum NOW, lest they face a possible nightmare scenario of being swept or letting the Avs get a 3-1 grip on the series.
– Oettinger played well for Dallas, NONE of the 4 goals allowed were bad ones. Combination of bad puck luck and some poor defense on a few of them.
Edit: Also, apparently Ross Colton got injured. And as a Lightning fan, sad 😢. Hopefully he's okay.
It says something about Blackwood that the only time the Avs scored on him was 1. on the powerplay and 2. when he DIDNT HAVE A STICK. An interesting case study for the "no playoff experience" debate
