Broberg & Holloway Are Blues… – 2 Guys & A Goalie – 08-20-24

Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg have now become the newest members of the St. Louis Blues as the Edmonton Oilers ended up not matching their offer sheets.

Former Oilers goalie Joaquin Gage and former NHLer Matt Kassian join Dustin Nielson to share their thoughts on what happened and what the next move is for the Oilers.

What do you think the Edmonton Oilers end up doing? Do they wait for the deadline to replace Broberg? Do they try and make a move right away or do they bite the bullet and just live with it?

2 Guys & a Goalie is presented by GS Construction and brought to you in part by Coolbet Canada!

  1. The new Edmonton Oilers head office is looking like a dumpster fire right now, bleeding defencemen on a team that was thin on the blueline to begin with. Right now their moves look flinchy and badly thought out. Gage is 100% right about the damage they've done to the penalty kill. It's hard to blame two players being lowballed by the GM for wanting to get paid. Broberg wanted $1.8 million and they tried to squeeze him, so you're not getting blind loyalty after keeping him off the roster as much as possible last season when someone else backs up the Brinks truck to pay him.

  2. They have four solid nhl defence man. Ill take the chance on Emberson at under 1 mil compared to Broberg at just under 5 mil. About the same amount of NHL experience.

  3. The Oilers are going to have three players taking up about 40 million per year in two years. So they better get used to this because they are going to have trouble filling in depth for years. Honestly, for a team goal, they should of traded Drai. this summer for a kings ransom and had one superstar less but a better team.

  4. So
    Vinny gone
    Fogele gone
    McLeod gone
    Ceci gone
    Holloway gone
    Broberg gone
That’s 6 players flipped over and Kane makes 7,
    if he doesn’t play,
    too many changes,
players have to play together and gel,
you can’t just throw players out there and say ,
well you’re playing with McDavid and Drai,
go score, still a top 8 team but not Stanley cup

  5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Broberg asked for a trade at Christmas, how are supposed to sign him in January, never was going to happen.
