Oh course yzerman made a good decision because he always knows what he’s doing.all those yzerman haters are dumb as fck and don’t know jack about hockey
Its almost like steve yzerman knows what hes doing as a gm
I’ve been saying this all season. People don’t want to hear it
Ghost had the worst + – rating on the team
Yzerman has been pretty bad signing veterans to fill out the roster. Just lucky he missed out on Stamkos.
Yzerman might be the dumbest person in hockey. He should have never been allowed to step into any role of management. I wouldn’t trust that dummy in the equipment room never mind a meeting room. Joey Moss made better decisions than Steve.
Ghost, yes. Walman no.
Y tried to sign him
Gostisbehere, 3.2M$, 45pt +1 during the season vs Gustafsson 2M$, 18pts -19. Both of them are 3rd Pairing PP specialist. And if you say well Carolina is playing better defensively than Detroit you would be right. The prior season on Detroit Gostisbehere had 56pts and -16, which is still better than Gustafsson. So no Yzerman wasn't right, otherwise he wouldn't have needed to sign another PP specialist to replace Gostisbehere.
Let's just say I would rather see Detroit get Byram than Marner.
I think the fact that we lost Ghost and gained Patrick Kane on the pp was definitely a smart move for the yzerplan
Well yzerman should still have signed him back. Gus 2 mil. I would pay the 1.2 for 30 more points. Same def.
Had to save that mil to afford Rasmussen being bad over 82 games for the 12th season
Ghost has value even on the Wings, however like you said, he provides a skill that isn’t really lacking in Detroit. The money for a defender who doesn’t play defense though? On a team that needs it on both sides of the blue line? He even occasionally would make a poster-worthy play… but he would also disappear for several games when they really needed production from his position. Pass.
You needed the money for Seider/Raymond. And I'm not sure how the Canes got him for such a deal, but I guess we didn't want to give him 3yrs (cause Prospects) and couldn't gurantee PP1 time.
Getting Gustaffson was in all cases a downgrade, no question. If we could've kept ghost (or Walman, but that's another story), our point production would 100% be better. But if I had to choose between keeping Ghost or offering Raymond/Seider those longterm deals, I would always build on the latter.
What a joke of a headline.
Even a monkey has better odds than Yzerman when they are asked to make a decision on two things, aka a 50/50% odds.
Despite Yzerman being human or maybe even because of being one, he consistently manages to demonstrate his inferior real competence and thus a worse odds than the monkey when studying the existing data collection that is available.
Yzerman is one of the NHL's worst GMs and is very inactive and it is beyond me how an owner continues to give him a salary. In my opinion, Yzerman is 2 years past his prime as GM for RW.
Ghost leaving hasn't been the issue as much as trying to replace him 1 for 1 with Gus. That was a bad wager, and they're all ASP placeholders ultimately (I hope)
Weird cope imho
The way you say Detroit bothers me lol. I’m sorry, it drives me nuts and I had to mention it. Don’t put so much emphasis on the E. Say it more like Duhtroit, not Deetroit.
GotsToBeHere (that's what he should be called instead of Ghost) is why we were better last year than this year.
I like Gost a lot. He is an offensive D man and damn good at that. Yzerman SPECIFICALLY SAID that Gost prices himself out with his production. I'm sure Detroit would have re-signed him.
Their biggest weakness was the PK and 5v5 defense. Ghost and Walman did absolutely nothing to help with this. Chariot and AJo are far better defensively than either of those 2. The problem was the huge dropoff beyond the top 4. Walman and Ghost would have gotten more O from the back end, but the team would have been even worse defensively. Trying to make up for bad D by adding more offense is a laughably bad idea.
I like Ghost but I was fine to let him walk for all these reasons. What I'm not fine with is that we basically just replaced him with a worse version of the same type of player in Gus.
This guy's videos and commentary blow.
He is great on the power play. Sadly, he's just about the worst defenseman in the league when it comes to, well, playing defense. He's a third pair defenseman who's great on the power play. And power play is not the Wings' problem.
Trade Rasmussen
Yeah, the Yzerplan will be going on a decade soon. How's that going?
Ghost and walman are proving yzerman wrong every night. 2 d men they coulda used to make the playoffs this year
I just wish Red Wings fans were more patient with Yzermans plan. He already warned everyone before he even became GM he doesn't know how long it will take. Fans here are so spoiled having a dominant franchise for 20 years that they forgot what it was like to start from the bottom. Just saying 🤷
