I'm here for it, coach! KEEP FORCHECKING!
Super cool video idea, I'd love to see more individual award rankings in the future like the Hart Memorial etc. Unrelated, but if the Oilers win the cup this year I hope Nuge gets it. McDavid is the GOAT, but my man deserves some recognition for sticking with the Oilers, and playing consistently well through the decade of darkness. Not only that but he has played really well both offensively and defensively these whole playoffs; though as long as the Oilers win the cup this year I don't really care who gets it. Jonathan Quick in 2012 was absolutely insane and I agree with that pick. Even though I was still really young at that point, I still remember how much I wanted NJD to win because of my (at that point) irrational disdain for the Kings, and how amazing Quick was in that playoffs.
Hey Coach. I was wondering if we would see another video before the SCF. I would quibble with the order of your list but when you're talking about 97/ 8/ 87/ etc, I mean you could make arguments for any of these guys. I guess I was most surprised with Keith at #3 Any chance you're going to the K&R Year Ender on July 8th?
Nice list (aside from a few), odd in some places, but theres no arguing with 1 and 2.
I don't mind ORiely ranked so low, because while he was pivotal, the true conn smythe that year was Binnington. No way were the Blues going past the first round with Jake Allen.
Fun fact: Macdavid was only the second skater (non-goalie) to win a conn smythe on a losing team. (Reggie Leach also won, setting a playoff goal record for the time).
PS. Were you intentioally mispronouncing Bernie Parent's name? I would think it was an anglophone joke, but you pronounce Patrick Roy correctly, for example.
Vasy and Hernan won the con smythe and they arenโt from north America?
That would be my #1 pick for the Conn Smythe trophy. First, who in their right mind saw that coming from an 8th place team? Second, Quick was the reason the Kings won every series in 2012. I'd like to say that Coach Don "Grapes" Cherry was the only one that said he wasn't surprised that the Kings won the Cup because they were already playing playoff hockey in the last 20 games of the regular season to just make the playoffs!
Erm….not crazy about the Duncan Keith inclusion/placement….he gave the puck away far too often…be curious to know his +/- rating
You make my day!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
You pass the word โdynastyโ like a hooker at a port of call. The last true dynasty was the Islanders from 1980-1983. A dynasty is three championships in a row.
Keith is the best playoff defenseman of all time? I can name six off the top of my head that kieth couldnโt hold a candle to.
After the final, you will be missed until next season! I SO DISLIKE SUMMER!
1:00 Lidstrรถm was actually the first European-born captain, but not the first non-Canadian. That would be the American Derian Hatcher, who was the captain of the Dallas Stars when they won the cup in 1999.
I did not want to hear about McChicken ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ
Was completely fine with McDavid's ranking surprised he was even that high
And in the end LA flicked Quick away like he was toilet paper stuck on their shoe and to me, that probably says a lot for who he is as person.
I think Tim Thomas's run was insane. I think he is top 3 and his 2011 run beats any goalie's run in the past 15 years easily. No disrespect to Quick or Vasilevsky.
Can't even pronounce Bernie Parent's name.
I was thinking โIf McDavid is at #2, #1 better be Quickโ and I was not disappointed.
