Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman | Full Fight Highlights

Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman | Full Fight Highlights

Fight Night on the Zone brought to you by that prize guy. Here we go. And what a setting for this. Josh Taylor loves loves this venue. And it will be electric in a few minutes time when he makes his walk to the ring. He’s two years younger. Both of them though in that stage of their careers where they cannot afford to slip up. the stronger, bigger, natural welterweight Echo Essimman in real form. But the talent and the skills, as Carl was saying, beautiful to watch Josh Taylor at his very best. But how much of his very best still remains fascinating? Josh Taylor at his peak was as good as a box fighter you would ever find. He was just perfect. The boxing getting into distance and inside there, he just rolling in and out. Now he punches inside. He’s strong. He can take a shot. Past hands from Taylor early looks to get into a rhythm the center ring pumping that jab out who will surely have that power as a natural 107. It’s a really good start. Now Taylor is getting his punches through and has to hold. Fabulous first couple of minutes here. That started with a good body shot with the left hand there from Taylor. Then he chased him down then. Worked really well. This is his debut, his Queensbury debut as well, Josh Taylor. The white and black shorts of Echo the engine. Really popular figure from Nottingham 36 now. And he gives absolutely everything. And there’s a selfbelief. And that right hand has got through a couple of times. That’s the shot for that lead. leading with that right hand. Oh, it’s a good left foot though from Taylor. Fantastic shot. And look who he gets after. Look at that front foot of Taylor. He literally puts it right behind the lead foot there. The best that allows you then to punch right through the target with that left hand. He fully commits to it. But will it turn into a nightmare with a fast fist of Josh Taylor who’s trying to reinvent himself. But there’s the right hand of Echo. That’s the danger shot. It’s gone through two, three times now. And George Taylor for all his wrestled dazzle has been um just his tricks a little by that left hand as you say that earlier on just switches off every now and again. Taylor not the first shot fair enough he switched off and got caught with the second one which he shouldn’t have got caught with really long as he trained hard and attack his right hand from [Applause] Taylor. Look at that. This is great. He will want to try and take this into deep waters and test Taylor’s heart and desire at this stage of his career. Exactly. Find out how much Oh, good left hand. Lovely left hand for Taylor and he’s got a good chin there. Go. It was the speed of the shot. Oh, didn’t say from. It was the speed of the shot from Taylor. Oh, great hands from Esimman. And this is swinging one way then the other in this fourth round. And suddenly Esimman has a breakthrough. Brilliant round. Still 40 odd seconds to go. Some good work there when he’s off throwing. Taylor sort of dipping the knees, slipping either side. That’s lovely. Count the right hook there. Beautiful shot. Wonderful shot just round the side of the head. Right hand. Taylor on his toes now. This is where he really excites the crowd. That’s why they love him. Gets a bump to a step when he has a bit of success. A little bump to a step and then he gets a bit more energy in his work. Taylor marching forward. Only one defeat on his record to Harry Scarf. And he’s an awkward fighter. Very awkward. Yes, to say the least. This is what he does well. Esimony works the body well. That was a good right hook though. Back from Taylor. Lovely faint there from Taylor then. Didn’t really capitalize on it. Was a real good move. Started a couple of rounds ago. He was just pouring the shot as no real speed in that lead hand. Clash of heads for the cut, but those body shots from Esimon are sinking in to that tall lead figure of Josh Taylor. And it’s a good round of game for Essim. It’s a nice spell in the fight. He’s calm and composed and his shots are landed. Bit swelling under that left eye as well. Taylor last he needs that. It’s this right hand as well as that head clash will keep throwing that left and this is really good from the veteran. And is he a veteran at 36? He’s boxing really well. A little slip there, but he’s tough as old boots is Ako Esman and he’s blocking these shots from Taylor and he wants to take the fight to him now in these last four. Who does it suit coming on strong like this is what does Taylor’s got to be pushing him back and and like Cal was saying he hasn’t got a closer distance to do it. He can do it with he can do it long. He’s giving Esim momentum here. Essim when he is coming forward is almost impossible to stop. Is that the natural welterweight, you know, stopping Taylor from being able to do that? You need to get busy. That’s good with the left hand to the body. Fire it back upstairs afterward. Oh, good leave hook from Taylor. Great work from Josh Taylor here in the 10th round trying to turn the tables and turn back the years in a great main event live on the zone delivered by Queensbury and it’s their new signing Josh Taylor. Well, you expect him to get busy but the class from Taylor still there. Taylor’s been here before. He knows that he knows on the battle through but can you still do it? Yep. Will the legs? Will the body stand up? Well, coming on so strong and Taylor’s got to dig really deep here, Cole. Echo ahead for you now. [Applause] I I’ve got uh I’ve got Eko in front here. Um it’s just not looking good and he looks a pressure fighter, but Josh is He’s got to dig deep. He has to win this round on my top score anyway to come away with a draw. A very tough first opponent at 107. He’s trying to come back. That’s got to roll the dice with that left hand. He landed a good one a moment ago. He’s got to throw it again. Really turn it again on comes right back at him. I think this has been a great performance from the man from Nottingham again in the lion’s stand as he’s done much of his career. Taylor had a good start. There’s been plenty to like about Josh Taylor tonight, but Echo Esan has dragged him into a battle and what a good fight. Respect between the pair. The judges will decide. Judge John Laam scores it 116 to 113. Judge Zultan Ineti scores it 16- 112. And Judge Gulio Fidas scores it 115 to 113. All in favor of your winner by unanimous decision. And now the WBO global welterweight champion Echo the engine. [Music] Let’s hear it. The Final Reckoning is the symphony of action and spectacle. Always right to the point, aren’t you? It’s stunning, thrilling, and spectacular. So, what’s the play? You’ll never see a movie like this again. Mission Impossible. Rated PG-13. Now playing.

  1. The way people are talking, youโ€™d think that Taylorโ€™s performance was as poor as his showings against Catterall and Lopez, but he was in that fight and clipped Essuman at least. Love Taylor but I donโ€™t know what he does at this point.

  2. How did Essuman not get a standing count for that? The ropes kept him from going down ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  3. Josh still a quality fighter. Lets not pretend these loses weren't competitive fights. Probably needs better match making now, and to stip some of the emotion whilst fighting. He often gets caught up in that.

  4. I thought Taylor won this fight only reason why they didnโ€™t give him the decision was because he took too many shots that could of been avoided had he not just looked for that one punch and played it a lil safer and waited for the right time to land cleaner shots

  5. A job already done a few times already against a declining fighter and you all make out this win is something amazing ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ . Jack best him twice when josh was still at his best.

  6. Essuman expends too much unnecessary energy.
He needs better training/coaching than what he is currently undergoing. Best wishes.

  7. Esumon would be a great fight for adam azim next. He deserves that fight and its perfect for adam fighting a guy on a momentum

  8. Taylorโ€™s face at the end๐Ÿ˜… He always seems to think he wins every fight even when heโ€™s been beaten convincingly. I have to say though this was a close one, but I mean Catteral schooled him twice and he thought he won both of these also.

  9. Nothing for nothing, from the highlights, I must have missed something. It looked like Taylor won the majority of exchanges in the highlight reel…

  10. Josh was like "What? I'm the star. How could I lose?" Anyway, he doesn't have the power and conditioning anymore, especially at this weight class. Enjoy your retirement.

  11. Massive props to Ekow Essuman, he adapted over the course of the fight and showed excellent stamina as always. I think Josh Taylor underestimated his abilities over the stretch and didn't expect it to go 12 rounds. To deliver that performance at 36 years old is seriously commendable

  12. Everybody is hating on Taylor but itโ€™s not like he just got destroyed this was a great fight they were both throwing beautiful big shots. Essuman just has a great chin gas tank and decent power. I wouldnโ€™t mind seeing Josh fight again at this level at all.
