Slavin clean check on Barkov

Jaccob Slavin throws Aleksander Barkov to the ice. This is similar to the play by Kulikov on Stankoven where Kulikov was called for roughing, except Kulikov put his hand on Stankoven’s face and Slavin put his hand on Barkov’s shoulder.

  1. I’m not trying to debate or argue, but can someone explain how this is clean? They’re in a foot race to the puck when Slavin decides he’s not going for the puck anymore. Neither one of them had possession, nor were they battling for possession at the moment, that was a plain race to the puck.

Beyond that he’s leading with his hands. I saw in the description you mentioned he doesn’t go for the head, but it’s still illegal to shove or pull another player to the ground with your hands so what’s the logic here? In my eyes this could easily be roughing or interference.
