FYI I had mic issues this week which result in having to use AirPods and the sound not being as full as I’m used to. Apologies in advance and thanks for the passionate support.
I kinda feel like we are much more likely to improve the team by trade rather than free agency this summer. The free agents available like Bennett are likely to be overpaid and it doesn't feel like Hughes would do that at this point in the rebuild.
boys we are back! fresh out the sun back into the fire!
Maybe Hughes won't sign anyone and give the opportunity to Dach one last shot at center
Montreal should try and trade up to 2nd overall with San Jose. It may seem like an ambitious move, but they have good young talent and picks with them. Leaving the draft with Michael Misa or Matthew Schaefer would leave the foundation of this young core, ready to believe anything is possible. The Sharks have a lot of building left to do and might bite on the idea of a package of picks and prospects. 🔮
Montreal needs to be in a free agent frenzy two years from now when they hopefully have one or two specific needs left to fill. It is still too early.
If you can make some financially responsible deal for a good young player, sure, If it helps you dump one of the old bad contracts, great.
This is the worst time of year and most expensive time of year to sign players. Try to keep drafting and developing. Stay young.
New York Rangers- Bought too soon
Toronto Maple Leafs- bought too soon
I like the idea of perhaps finding a great defensive defenseman.
I'd like to think Suzuki, Caufield, Hutson, Demidov, Slafkovsky isn't our eventual core. I don't think this group would be good enough.
Poor old Pittsburgh,
No to Ceci. No to Provorov.
Gavrikov will cost a fortune.
Trade Mailloux for value.
No free agents please , i know hes small but grab Rossi and then try for a rd then we good …for now..also thx Marco and Shaun .GHG
Remember: Habs are in a Rebuild. They will get a 2nd center. But Reinbacher will be playing as 3rd RD this season.
If Montreal is looking for a veteran D ,why on earth did they get rid of Johnathan Kovacevic,he was a perfect fit with the team.
I would like to get Marco's opinion on if the Habs went big on July 1st and added Sam Bennett at 7x$9M and Aaron Ekblad at 7x$8.5M. I would like Marco's opinion if he that would be enough to even bring these two players to Montreal, or if he thinks they would even be willing to come to Montreal. They would have the cap space to do this if they bought out Laine (I checked using PuckGM on Puckpedia). But the team would look like this if they brought Armia back at a reasonable $2M cap hit.
Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Demidov-Bennett-Dach
Anderson-Newhook-Gallagher
Heineman-Evans-Armia
Kapanen
Guhle-Ekblad
Matheson-Hutson
Xhekaj-Carrier
Struble
Would Marco think this would be a huge mistake like what happened in Nashville? or would he see this as a step forward like when NJ adding Hamilton and Meier?
When I saw the title of this episode I was expecting that a situation something like this would be discussed.
I think we’re in the same spot as last year. They try to make a draft trade or a shorter-term signing but they don’t force anything. They need some of the big contracts (price) to come off the books.
Great Show 👍
amazing episode as usual! love this podcast frl
Would like to see them go after jj peterka.
If LA is serious about Marner, I would like to get Danault back home where he belongs. LA will need cap space lol
dont forget colorado has no picks in they 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds this year and next year so lets see what we can do with them ?
Honestly Sean and Marco, I’d love to see Crosby come to Montreal. We have a few untouchables but always a deal to be made. You give to get but if it’s future and Beck or Logan. Crosby will make everyone better and might as well bring in a Malkin for a second or two added. Idk I’m rambling but let’s go for it now.
Love it smart ! Good job !
