I think his slower cadence is actually a huge benefit as a commentator, because so many chess fans themselves don’t speak English as a first language either— his accent and speech patterns are very easy to process for non-native English speakers and allows his charm and humor to come through.

I really enjoy the insights and frank commentary Hammer provides as well as his humour 👌👏🏻👏🏻. He was great working for Anna.
