I do get the fit, but thinking Ekblad will sign in a high tax area for close to 7.8 is absolutely ridiculous. He will easily be able to get 9 on the open market. MTL would have to go to 10.
If Ekblad is anything like Weber, forget about it. Weber was a pylon and the worst captain of this storied franchise. Never again.

Why would he leave a team that just won 2 straight cups and one of the best cities to live in and decide I want to play in Montreal lol. A rebuilding team, a Canadian city and not a great place to live during hockey season. Canadian teams don’t have the option to sign these types of players anymore,July 1st is for the US teams.
Why would we trade a young piece of our core away for an older dman ? No thanks! You’re trading a piece for a piece! Doesn’t make us better! Have then playing together ? Then sure!
The best move would be to bring in ekblad and trade matheson for a forward or something
then you have Hutson ekblad Guhle carrier for the top 4
And xhekaj struble maillox reinbacher for the 5th 6th and 7th spots
The habs have so many cards in hands that it is actually impossible yo guess what they'll do cuz they actually and have the means to do everything… they got the pics the prospects the cap the players to move in any direction… so im just wating to see what happens lolll
