I think this is where when there rumors and talk that Leon, Bouchard and McDavid doing cap friendly deals and Draisaitl did it and he could have asked more then he's getting next year, and if Bouchard does the same people would expect him taking 10 or 11 million but what happens if Bouchard takes 8, 9 almost 10 million and then McDavid takes 14 or 15 million even if he does 16 or 16.5 but just say hypothetic. Bouchard takes 9 million and McDavid takes 15 and they cap will be up by then might give the team 2 or 3 million left there looking good and they can pick up people on free agent and still looks good
I think it's important to talk about the players union when discussing these superstars, because I think they would take EVEN less personally on their contracts for the chance to win – because winners don't go hungry in terms of sponsorships and job security in the league after the playing career, but the non-superstar players in the union lobby for at least fair contracts so that their own negotiations get them more.
The McDavid experiment is asking more than if a superstar can carry the team on the ice, it has evolved into whether a person like McDavid can have success when essentially taking over an organization. They can say all they want that ownership/management are acting on their own accord, but to me it's clear that major decisions go through McD and that he has a strategy for the entire thing. I was questioning it for a while as an Oil fan, but I've given that up haha
WILD THAT MCDAVID SAY GIMME LESS SO DRAISAITL CAN GET MORE … NOW DRAISAITL GETS 18 MILLION, HOWS THAT GONNA AFFECT THINGS FOR MCDAVIDS FUTURE $$$ … THE WORST THING IS GUYS LIKE PERRY DOING SO MUCH FOR SO LITTLE $$$
Yeah when Toronto looks back on things they'll wonder how badly they were screwed by the premium they paid out to Marner and Matthews.
97 didn't even go out to accept the Conn Smythe last year. He's after the big prize, and the Oilers are playing in their 2nd SCF in 2 years. He's playing with his best friend, the 2nd best player on the planet, his wife opened restaurants in Edmonton. So, fantasize all you want Leafs, he's not starting over in such a disastrous club for some extra $$$.
Mcdavid ain’t even leaving Edmonton when he retires lol
Barkov > McOverrated
If it wasn't for NHLPA nudging, Connor would likely sign for the same as Draisaitl, but he can't. It will be as reasonable a deal as he can sign without letting down the PA.
theres leaf fans still saying marner now gone Mcdavid to Toronto they been saying that for your years they are still crying over the 2015 draft lottery
