Your 2024-2025 New Jersey Devils brought to you by Charming Ultra Soft. Softness you can see. In all seriousness. I can't praise Pesce enough. Guy was our best Dman toward the later end of the season and playoffs. Add to that, he helped Luke become a better player too.
Edit: I know I said the acquisitions last offseason amounted to nothing this year. I will correct myself and say most of them were disappointing with Pesce and Markstrom being the exception.
Last thing I wanted to read this week was that the Devils won’t have a few players going into next year, possibly.
Knowing what we know now, I'm not too bummed about not making it to round 2. Too many serious injuries and constsntly relying on 1 line and 4 Dmen wasn't going to get it done. At that point you're risking even further injury to some guys, which if the roster was healthy coming in, then it would've been worth the risk, but the team was already depleted.
Oh the early summer dissapointment , as long as Shitzgerald is the gm , get used to it !

I was high on Nemec and stood by him despite his poor play and was rewarded for that. I think the kid is worth the patience.
I was shocked with the Bratt surgery. Further cements my take on him being my favorite player on this roster.
Excited for Gritsyuk. Hopefully the kid pans out.
End thoughts, I hope off season Fitz gets to work and we can be successful next year so he can enjoy his vacation at the deadline. LFGD

Why do I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Still depressed. And the injuries news going into next year makes me even more depressed. It does feel like an eternity, Ace. I've missed your videos and the late-night lives and everyone (except for the non-Devils fans.) How did you cope being back at the empty Rock?
If anything all this injury news just makes me angrier that they didn't sign Grits earlier, you sent out the walking wounded when you had a fresh, hungry potential immediate second liner watching from home? AND they played a tight, competitive series regardless, maybe it could have been a win with a little more help. But thats in the past. I definitely try and re-up Dumo, even before all this news I wanted him back, but I think theres a decent chance, this team even with its flaws is VERY close to being a bonafide contender, I think Fitz can sell him on "lets get you one more Cup". Also it came out after this video but Simon Nemec was playing hurt too, just nuts, but definitely makes me a prouder of this team and everything they battled through. This was not a wasted season imo, I think we learned a lot about some of the absolute warriors we've got on this team and I think they learned a lot about themselves too. I think this core does win a Cup and when they do I think we all look back on this season as when they finally started believing they could do it.
Fitz still has work to do, but I am definitely a believer in this team, core and coach. As always, LETS GO DEVILS!
Half of the team injured, what does that tell you? They're too soft, no other team has nearly as many injuries, do they even lift bro?!
I have 0 faith in Fitz, there are too many bad contracts and Boozeface has no idea what he's doing. Hamilton, Palat, Haula, Bastian, Big Mac were non factors, that's a lot of $ that needs to be spent a lot better. Kovacevic contract is terrible, he's just not a good hockey player, but 4×5 is madness.

I don't see Nemec going anywhere due to the current situation. Devils have to hold onto this kid. He's only going to get better. I really hope Gritsyuk pans out. If he can score 20 goals next year, he'll more than have earned his money.
I was hopeful after the other injuries we had we were terrible a lot of the time without Nico and Jack we pulled through you even feel seigs and when Hamilton was gone you feel them these guys injuries just kept land sliding
I know it sucks…but don't feel bad, Ace. With all of these injuries, we were completely decimated. Surgery is ALWAYS a last resort. Trust me, I know. The fact several players needed surgery just shows how bad everything was. Knowing how many players were out with injuries, and playing with injuries, its no wonder we lost the series…and even with half our team being AHL players, we still gave the Canes a run for their money. Maybe next year, we will be completely healthy for the playoffs, and absolutely decimate the Canes.
We could have made a run for sure. I felt like we deserved better results. Next year is our year, LGD!!!!!!!
The worst part of this news is Fitz our GM is completely out of his league. Give me Casey on the Blue Line. The kid has huge upside and I am willing to learn with his mistakes. I truly wish there was a way to keep the guys out of playing for outside teams. Just too much risk of injury.

I understand that the Devils were plagued with injuries this season. But this next season has to be Fitzgerald's last season to get the team deep into the playoffs. Devils do not have the offense firepower to compete and hang with these playoff teams. That Palat contract is the worst baggage. Huge mistake.
Your "good friend Jordan" is not confused, nor is he accustomed to losing. He's just level-headed and realistic. It was a calculated, strategic move to wait until the offseason to sign Gritsyuk. He was not going to make a difference in that playoff series, and now, we have him under team control for 1 more season. I'd rather have him under control later on, when he's a more developed and polished player, than to burn that season of control early on, when he's still getting his feet wet in the NHL.
I understand your frustration, I do and we should be in win now mode.
I also agree that people are throwing out trash trades like the leverage is in Vancouver’s favor when Devils can wait 2 years and lose zero assets. I don’t get it. Dougie, Casey and some picks. That’s all I’m offering. We hold the cards we are in control. I’m not discussing Nemec or Saliav. Don’t even ask. If they are interested in Dillon or Seigs with Dougie instead of Casey, I’m there.
Also, I’m glad Fitz did nothing at the deadline that put us in any kind of cap hell. The prices were too high and we had injuries to key players. Next season.
Kovy is out until 2026. Can’t have the surgery yet because of the swelling. ACL/MCL. Boozeface needs to sign doumerlin. Still say trade dougie because we need the cap. Luke and Nemec will have to step up
Devils need more depth
I wonder if the Christmas collapse started because of straight injuries this team got . Dillon with the neck injury I wonder if it was from all the fist fighting. But whatever the case this kinda shows this team gets pushed and shoved around to much unless we get the heavier edgier more violent. I have this feeling next year will be the same. We just get bullied on the ice and wears the team down way too much. My wishlist for the offseason

Ace, Richie D. here. Is it just me?, I'm watching the other series/teams and it looks like everyone of the remaining teams excluding Washington (not a believer) would just smoke us. I also noticed (depth related) the other teams in these OTs are flying and look like their conditioning is much better. It's still early but Dallas looks like they're on a mission.
If Arseni Gritsyuk can remain healthy without requiring multiple shoulder injuries — we're good. Bonus points if he can hit someone and be a Selke type of player like Nico Hischier. Devils sorely need offensive firepower. It is evident that the current Devils cannot hang and compete with these dynamic playoff teams.

I'm super optimistic about Dumo. I appreciated his absolute workhorse nature in the playoffs. Strong playoff teams need solid players like him. I think he'd continue to be insanely reliable and help a few guys feel like they could also push through the insane grind of a deep playoff run
Quick take: I am skeptical of Fitzgerald’s rhetoric talking about "Identity" and "playing one way." It sounds like BS. It seems like the Devils are not doing diddly squat until they overcome the Canes.
i didnt even watch this yet… and you mustve read my mind about Grtizyuk LOL … he should absolutely been given a playoffs run even just for the experience… to get a taste of it… honestly a huge waste ! … still depressed myself sir hoping for better days ahead with some new signings and lineup changes… i saw Fitz made some comments day or so ago ! … LGD’s !
