How have the Oilers managed to reach the Stanley Cup Final again, despite injuries to some key players? What did you think of Jake Oettinger’s quick hook in Game 5 by Pete DeBoer? What kind of rematch are we expecting for the Oilers against the Panthers? TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

DeBoer humiliated his star goalie publicly.
After this move he has no prerequisite to continue as head coach for Stars. He kicked himself out by this decision.
Ottinger is more important for Stars with 8 yr contract just done than deBoer. It now gives the management a good reason to get rid of him.
He has not been either able to take the team to finals. Three time failure on 3rd round.
Thats another nail to his coffin.
Makes me wonder if Ottinger said something or had the wrong attitude during the time out, because something definitely heated up.
It was at that moment I knew, the Stars would never make it to the SCF under the coaching of Deboer
I dunno. Let's consider Oettinger's stats in game 5.
2 shots against. 2 goals against. Huh…………. ya, definitely the wrong call to pull the guy who can't seem to beat this team.
The funniest part being, if DeBoer didn't pull him, and he went on to let in 4 goals on 12 shots or something, then he'd be called out for not pulling him.
People are stupid. End of story. Anyone who talks bad about DeBoer, is automatically negligible. Edmonton was winning this series, no matter who was coaching.
DeBoer will be fired. How on earth you bury Robertson on 4th line at one point and on second PP unit? Rantanen was ice cold with no goals in last 8 games and he's on first line. He needed to pick up his game but returned to non-production like in the regular season since the trade.
My personal opinion I really don’t think it would have made any difference who was in the net
Coaches look bad when they play the Oilers too much
I can't see how Oettinger can stay in Dallas with Deboer behind the bench after that humiliating move pulling him…I understand Deboer is looking to find a spark but He had little chance on the first goal with McDavid putting right on the tape for the tip in…and the second a break away where it's 50/50 for the best of goalies to make the save. I think Oettinger will be asking for a trade. That will be hard for him to get over. If he let in two muffins on those goals I would get it…and the way Deboer did it by calling him back when he was on his way back to the net after the Timeout…really humiliating. I'm sure there will a lot of debate over that decision. But even more egregious was Deboer's post game comments. There is no way they both stay in Dallas next season…One will have to go…and we all know which one is easier to replace. Throwing your number one goalie under the bus the way he did is unforgivable…it's almost as though he was asking to be fired.
Those goals were on the guys in front of him.
If DeBoer isnt fired then Oettinger should ask for a trade.
The goalie wasn't the problem, it was the team in front of him
As a Stars fan, why didn't he yank Benn, Duchene, Marchment or Johnston?? I'm partly joking and I know why he can't, but still, by his logic he should have done something similar.
He admitted the oilers were the better team, and that's the reality. It's a hard thing to admit after the series just ended. But that's just the truth. I was talking sh*t during the series, but there's really nothing left to say 😕
I don't think it affected the outcome anyway. You can what if forever, but bottom line is deBoer is the coach, it's his call to make. In the context of an entire season where Dallas did as well as they did and made the final four, it is a tiny event. Fans get too caught up in singular moments instead of the big picture. Those players have spent a lifetime getting to where they are. They and their support teams put in a ton of work. It's enough to just respect that.
Hahaha that guy bet against mcjesus every round so far
to call out UR NUMBER 1 GOALIE AND SAYING HIS RECORD AGAINST EDMONTON IS HORRIBLE SINCE LAST YEAR??? BYE BYE DeBOER
I'm not an Oilers fan and never will be but for the good of the country I will put my feelings aside and root for them to take the Cup away from the USA.
I thought the pull was a goal early. But you have to start better than 2 goals on 2 shots in an elimination game. Casey DeSwiss is god-awful. We had him in Pittsburgh and every shot against was nail-biting anxiety. Then DeSwiss lets in the first shot he faces, a nothing shot, and another goal a short time later, but he doesn't get pulled? You can put the starter back in the net. But no, DeBoer was way too stubborn at that time. Oettinger should have been back in net for the second, and at leasttt the third period when you still could have won the game.
It’s defense fault Not Otter fault ! I hate the coach of
Down 3-1, two quick goals, yeah, DeBoer looked for a spark to ignite the team. Loosing 6 of 7 ,Oettinger did not fare well against the Oilers, and the first game he won, Edmonton dominated except for 5 minutes of the third. It is easy to look for excuses, but frankly, the Oilers have McD. and are a better team, period!!!
Remember Rantanen being the lynchpin component to the Avs, Stars AND Leafs playoffs?
Pepperidge Farms remembers…
Does not matter. They were never going to beat Edmonton anyway
Oh well didn't bother the Oilers
This bufoon should be fired. Never won anything in his life
Jake Oettinger is an excellent goalie, Cory Perry made a fantastic move, any elite goalie would have hard pressed to stop that one. Even the second goal would have been tough to stop, I am an Oilers fan. It was wrong to pull Oettinger. Jake has every right to look elsewhere.
DeBoer got out coached. He had a better team and just got out coached. He can’t win. So he’s looking for an out. He decided it would be his goalie.
He’s a drowning coach looking to survive.
I didn’t have a problem with him pulling him, my biggest issue is how he did it, it was disrespectful and embarrassing for Otter and that wasn’t necessary, would be surprised if DeBoer has coached his last game for the Stars
I didn't think pulling him was a bad idea its the way he did it. In defense of DeSmith, he played as good as could be against anvagressive Oiler team. I don't think either goaltender would have pulled out a win. Oilers were too determined.
I wouldn't have even started Otter in game 5. The Oilers crushed his confidence.
DeBoer is tired of couching the Stars! He wants out!
Hey Marty I tink you tot de oilers where gonna lose…
Can you say da Turd💩period😂
Carolina please trade for otter
a coach who screams at me "get out", well I'd never play for him again
Pet should have told Otter that he has to dosomething to shock the team. That he hasn't done anything wrong but the players have to know that because of there poor play you got pulled.
The way I see it the stars weren’t winning that series. I’m fine with the pull. Im 30. Been watching hockey with my father since the cup and now I watch it with my son. I say that to say I am a die hard fan. I am very tired of otter. I get the stars have to market their players and hype him up but the amount of d1ck riding for that guy for as mediocre as he is is pathetic. I’d rather have dobby back. I’d rather have a lot of goalies actually. Every now and then he has a really good game. More often than not it’s just middle of the road play. Ready for otter and Benn to go
Trying to spark the team
Never thought I would say this as a Canucks fan but….. Ugh… Go Oilers
Despite had every chance to cover the puck on the third goal. Instead, he pushed the puck right out and keeps it in play.
DeBoer could have saved himself and put Otto back in. Just the dumbest move ever.
Oilers scored on first couple of shots doesnt look like goal tending to me
Oettinger’s play has been unreliable of late and giving up two goals on two shots does not inspire the team. Keeping him in at that point would concede the game, the series, and the season. Is one goalie’s ego worth sacrificing an entire team’s chances ?
