I’d let Rielly go and try and keep Marner.
Matthews…retain some salary and trade him. Proven goal scorer, but not when it counts. Leafs could get two quality, proven playoff guys and a 1st rounder.
Marner…natural talent, locally grown Canadian, sign him.

Some of us fans want Matthews gone because his playoff track record is pathetic, and we are over the losing like utter pathetic baby soft no-show losers. Matthews like Marner dosnt have the game braker clutch gean.
Time to move on and rebuild.

8×8 yrs. or let him sit out. Takes him to 32. Wear and tear for a power forward is much higher. Since when is 8mil an unfair amount. If you want good players around you then you take a little less. Have we not learned anything by over paying guys.. The top 3 guys would still be under contract for two more years if we would have insisted on 8 yr deals with at least some trade ability in the last 3 years. Enough of being held hostage by players who want just money. They do not think their teammates deserve fair compensation as well.
$4 million for 3 years should be doable and suer he would take it. He then has three years to prove a bigger long term deal.
Knies is really good has a lot of value to the TML but I'd try and sign him 5 years $6-6.5 million just to try and get other guys as well
Knies is the future. The Leafs would make a stupid mistake if they let this kid go. Knies to me just gets better and better every single year.
Are the Leafs able to sign Logan Cooley, from Utah, if so they should reunite him with Knies. Could be a great move!
Who cares what the player says the only factor that matters to Knies is MONEY, MONEY,MONEY and more MONEY. The Leafs have proven to spend it foolishly on players.
No congratulations to Nylander. He floated around in the Leaf panther series and doesn't listen to coaching. He is not a team player and another regular season player. We need gritty players for playoff hockey and 4 lines capable of scoring. That's what the Panthers have – grit and depth! Also a lot of Canadian players.
Since the leafs only pay for potential, guy needs to be paid over 10 a year. That's how the Leafs do it, right?

if they can lock him up at 7.25 for 7 or 8 years thats beyond a steal. That contract will age soooo well in like years 3-7 once the cap is welll over 100M. I just dont see him taking 7.25M i really dont…. not unless its less years.
I truely think it will come down to years. I believe they will put two contracts on the table for him. one will be a bridge type one will be a long term deal.
I believe they will offer him somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5M on a 3 year deal. then they will put a 7x7M on the table as well. However I expect Knies to want alot closer to 8-8.5M
I truely believe that 1.5M will be to big of a gap when they have to replace Marner and Tavares still. I expect Knies will sign for a bridge contract the final contract im sayin will be somethin like 3 years5.5M per.
Knies is my favourite Leaf. Get him signed.
my question for Tavares will be if im Treliving what about taking a deffered contract. IM not sure how that will workout but I dont beliueve theres a rule about that yet. Tavares has made his money … What about something like a base salary of 2M then defer another 5M until he retires. once the leafs window is closed and Matthews is 34ish.

Knies is one of your best players by far. Nylander is the best player leafs have . Time to trade marner , good player but highly overrated. Marner stunk again in the playoffs. Playoffs are a different style of play and more aggressive which marner doesnt like.
Marners not worth 1mill. Knies is priority
Where's Brad is he kicking tires is he avoiding the media maybe he's trying to negotiate a new deal with Pelly one things for sure the longer he is absent the more questions he will have to answer and no the leafs lost 4 of their last 5 games against the panthers so don't try to tell me how close they were even making an offer to marner would be an insult to leaf fans everywhere

Austin mathew need a big skilled player who can take a hit and give him pass and spaces to shoot more marner can't take hits and when he does he start to mess up

Love Knies but if the Leafs could have got Ratennen for him than they lose the trade of the century. Also yes Knies wants to stay but he will want market value.
There should be no such thing as a no trade clause in any contract…why should a player have the luxury to sign that and then underperform without any consequences, AKA William Nylander…players become too comfortable that way because they know they are untouchable…you need to prove your contract worthy and thats the difference from todays NHL comparing to the OLD school NHL…🤷♂️😔
Laffs biggest problem is the media/social media to. And of coarse the biggest being the fans ! They laffs should play in a special needs league thats what its fan base is made up from anyways,

Nick you need to speak slower. You talk faster than any other podcaster I have listened to. I’m a big sports fan, Leafs and Blue Jays but find your podcast is irritating because you talk so fast the words run into each other. I’m just trying to help you and am not meaning anything else by it❤
Leafs need to clean house regarding scouting,top management and it does not help that the new CEO really isn’t a diehard all his life Leaf so the feeling in that organization does not have passionate players that want to win no matter what it takes. Skill wise, Leafs have at least 4 top in the league BUT the team does not play with any killer instinct and as far as I’m concerned, just watch how the Florida Panthers play and how well they are coached from the bottom up. There is no comparison when you watch the intensity of each player.
Also watch the Oilers too. McDavid is a one-man demolition derby plus when they are behind or need to win, just look at the ferocity in his eyes. He puts everyone on his back and blasts through the opponents. That is a very catching winning feeling and the rest of the players pick it all up. It’s fun to watch but it’s not something that is ever noticeable on Leafs. The closest was the 6th game against Panthers because they had selfdestructed in game 5. However, along comes game 7 and the lazy,disinterested,team from game 5 reappeared. It’s quite remarkable how they are like Dr.Jekyl and Mr,Hyde!
Leafs are signing Knies to a contract weeks before the deadline. Both parties have expressed they want a deal done before hand. Knies is a keeper & he is getting better as he matures.

5×8… ANY teams makes it instantly 8×11. if I was Montréal gm I would give 2 first rounder for the next two years easy for knies. with Mailloux and Reinbacher and with Monty -Dobes we are set to not draft top 20 anymore. Knies with Demidov would be nasty work. of course Knies needs to sign the offer tho.
A two million dollar player is not now a $5 million or $6 million dollar player. The salary cap isn't tripling in the next three years.
Knies will get around $7.8 x 4.

Marner, cap sucking playoff ghost. Will be signed for entertaining regular season, but Leafs are super starved for playoff success. Core 4 + Reilly snake bit, conditioned to play in fear and doubt, perfection over excellence, over-coached by Keefe and over-cautious, need to play elsewhere to save their careers.
