Why won't anyone say the obvious? The Leafs championship window officially ends when Marner walks! FA class is weak, no 1st round picks to trade until Matthews is an UFA, no prospects of note past Cowan and Danford, and they don't have a #1 dman. It's over
Matthews isnt a captain. Theres no 🔥 there. Cup winners have a burning desire to win they make big plays and play great defense when it matters most. Team chemistry is so important. Willing to battle with your brothers on the ice for one goal. Johnathan Toews will be making his comeback next season maybe you guys can pick him up. He was captain of my Blackhawks for 3 cups. Captain serious knows what it takes to win. Thats a real leader

The reason the pressure is there, is because the players are GOOD. Good enough to win the Cup. I do truly believe that. But, for whatever reason, they get constipated and can't get it out….

Marner is good as gone and honestly good riddance. Last season Matthews resigned before the season started and Willy signed before the ASB. I feel like Marner just played the team along to try and get more money when the team could have traded him for Raantanen. Tbh I don't think Matthews is fully healed from whatever he had last year vs Boston. And playing in 4 Nations instead of resting probably didn't help.

Domi is Marner Light who hits, Id give him a bigger role, i bet he grows, and Mathews and him show chemistry.
Elers is fast and can score, Nylander has zone entry, JT slower but is a good net front and fills the gaps created by his wingers speed
Nelson is big and mean and can score, Appleton likes to hit and can score, and mcman has speed and hits and can score
4th line is energy, Gaudette is puck hungry and likes to hit, along with Lorentz and Laughton.
The d core is "pretty good"? Have to disagree, they are being carried by forwards like Marner.
Leafs are close. Have a year window maybe before it’s over. Montreal will be champs in no time or Washington who are huge team. Reilly gone for ekblad. Marner gone and sign kneis leafs a good 18 mill for two tougher players plus exchange kampf and jannkoert.
I dont think you can fill the hole that will be left if Marner goes. Say what you want about him not performing in the playoffs but come on he isnt the only one. Losing was a team effort and I dont get why everyone is heaping it on Marner. I hope they sign and keep him even if the media already has him gone.

Watch the hand shakes at the end of game 5 canes panthers. This is what people mean when they say leafs fans are trash Carolina got destroyed blew a 2-0 lead in the series losing game do the fans boo them off the ice throw jerseys on the ice no they cheer for them even after the loss. Going 7 games against a Stanley cup team is good plenty of teams don’t make the playoffs yes you want to win it all but were the leafs so bad this year they deserved to be boo’d off the ice after taking the panthers to 7?

How do you get better when you have put the C on Matthews? They can't take it away now. They need a tough, lead-by-example, no-nonsense, hard-nosed Captain. The core roll over in the playoffs like little puppies. I don't see them making any progress counting on Matthews to somehow become a playoff player. He's a regular season super star and a playoff ghost.

Interesting! I read a comment below that said he is now going to watch the channel for all the videos. Well, I guess he will be replacing me as I won't be tuning in anymore. Of course, the will fit right in with my not watching the NHL anymore as well. I'm completely sick of the fact that, at playoff time, the NHL stops calling penalties in the oddest of places; allows cheap players to do whatever they want, including injuring people withtout any sanctions of any kind, and still expect the players to put their best efforts forward while injured. The result is, the cheap teams win and the talented teams, who play the best hockey, lose with very, very few exceptions. The NHL makes a big showing of how they have a strict policy of protecting players (especially goalies) and then allow the most aggregious infractions imaginable.
I'm sick of it and I'm done. I have loved the way the Leafs have played over the last decade (give or take) and will miss Marner if he goes but I refuse to blame the Leafs players as you've done. They play their asses off the whole season to be the best and then the NHL undercuts them in the playoffs with terrible ref'ing. It's ridiculous and sad and I'll state here categorically that I'd prefer the Leafs to win the President's Cup over the Stanley every single time. Thank to every member of the Leafs organization. That's all!!
