Earlier today it was announced by head coach Kris Knoblauch that Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman would require surgery and will miss the rest of the NHL Playoffs. Hyman, who leads the Oilers in hits in the post-season (111), had an awkward collision with Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment early in the first period that saw Hyman leave and not return. The Oilers have a 3-1 series lead and can book their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final with a win tomorrow night in Dallas. The way I saw the hit was he was trying to clip Hyman but Hyman saw it at the last minute but couldn't get his arms out of the way. If he wouldn't have moved, it looks like it would have been a head hit and he probably would have been out with concussion but atleast Marchment would be in front of the player safety board for the head hit. The hit was dirty how he turned sharply into him trying to have him not see him. But we won the rest of the game without Hyman so I have no doubts we can win again without him. Crappy deal for sure. Lets go Oilers!!

Am I the only one who's not too worried about this? We should already be able to close out this series with a dominate 3-1 lead over Dallas with the way Stu is playing. I honestly think Oilers would rather have Stu play like this and not have Hyman then vice versa. I also 100% their forward specifically winger deph is good enough to not make it like a glaring issue
Bring in Max Jones instead of Arvidsson or Skinner they are small and weak. Go 11 and 7 get Ekholm up to speed. Going to need size and strength against the panthers. Skinner and Arvidsson dont fit into the Oilers playoff drive.
I think the series is fine; the boys will rally and lock it down for the series win. Florida will be no harder than already expected. Ekholm will be essential and other guys will have to step up the physicality

I wouldn't call wrist surgery an "upper body" area.
Jeff Skinner is a former 40 goal scorer. He is dying to get back into the lineup. It's a no brainer in my opinion. You put Skinner in.
Marchment got more airtime on that hit than Jordan jumping from the free throw. Scumbag
He would have broke the all time hit record by miles 😢 also important for power play and pp killing. And 5 goals almost as much as McDavid. Plus 6 assists. Without him it will be really hard against florida. He is absolutely irreplacable. In my opinion our 4th most important player this playoffs. But the only one who is absolutely not replaceable
It’s so unfortunate that he got injured. Hyman is such an integral part of this team, he’s classy and he loves being on the team. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

This really effects the Oilers chances going forward
This season, the Oilers have surprised everyone, and that includes their fan base. I’m one of those “glass half empty “ types and quite superstitious. They have met and surpassed all my expectations so far. This year they have shown maturity and they have lineup depth. In a year filled with uncertainty, they have to go a few more steps to make the improbable a reality.
