How do the Jets slow the surging Blues?

The Jets had all the momentum prior to the series shifting to St. Louis but all of a sudden, the series is tied at two games apiece and Connor Hellebuyck has been chased in both defeats. TSN Hockey analyst Bruce Boudreau joins Gino Reda to discuss the home and away discrepancy in play with the Jets, how he would coach a team that is in this position and whether or not Hellebuyck is showing signs of fatigue.

  1. Here's the REAL question… If the Blues are this good NOW… How good are they gonna be in the FUTURE??? They have a team of kids, and they are all playing like veterans. These guys are going to be a problem for the Western Conference for YEARS.

  2. Your should do your homework. The Blues were good on the road too. They were 19-4-3 since the Four Nations Cup. Many of those wins were on the road. Connor Hellebuyck has a record of 4-11-0 in his last 15 playoff games with a goals against average of 4.17 and a save percentage of .869, just sayin.

  3. Playoffs are an another season. Hellebuyck has been historically bad in the post season

  4. I'm not sure if the Blues are going to the Finals, and I'm not even sure they'll win this series against Winnipeg. However, I do like what I've seen out this Blues team compared to the beginning of this season, and I feel really good about St. Louis Blues hockey in the coming years. Blues in 7

  5. The Jets have the best regular season goaltender in hockey and simultaneously the worst playoff goaltender in NHL history! If Hellebuyck can’t find his game – and there is no indication that he has it in him – this series will end in six. Jets are simply not a playoff team. They do possess that other gear that all teams need for success during the playoffs. Unfortunately, they are done…

  6. The Blues go on a 2.5 game skid at the end of the stretch and their 13 game win streak faded into the ether. Sure it was acknowledged when discussing the matchup, but the complete and utter lack of bracket support tells a different story. The Blues aren't just "hot", they are brimming with young talent and, since the addition of Monti, very well structured. I'm certainly not saying the Blues should be the favorite, but they aren't the underdog implied by such heavy onus put on the Jets for losing.

  7. I thought game 1 was very telling. Jets looked like the playoffs are new to them. Act like you’ve been in the playoffs before. To me, the leadership in Winnipeg has serious question marks. It’s not just the goalie. After game 1 I said they aren’t doing anything of consequence in the playoffs.

The President’s trophy is not a serious award in the NHL. Congratulations you had 2 of the 3 worst teams (in a 32 team league) in your division to beat up on this year. This is also the reason Washington had so many points this year. Look at the teams in their division they got more games against. Beating good teams in a series in the playoffs means something. Blues were a better team coming into the post season since coaching change.

  8. Blues finished year so strong. I have them in 6 in this series. Bennington is back to his Cup run so let's just see. Will be great hockey

  9. This is what happens when you interview someone who hasn't been paying attention. St. Louis has been the best team in the league since the 4 Nations tourney. They have been good at home AND on the road. Winnipeg barely beat them in games 1 & 2 at home. It took a very late 3rd period goal in Game 1, and another 3rd period goal in Game 2. The Blues aren't a team that just gets revved up at home. They are a good team and will be a handful for any opponent, home or on the road. I don't see how Winnipeg turns this series around. Unless they pull some cheesy hockey move like injuring Binnington. The NHL is notorious for that kind of BS. They've already run him several times.

  10. The Jets have to move Blues players from the goalie crease, as well as find a way to solve Binnington. The first task is doable, the second, not as much.

  11. Bennington has won a cup knows what it takes Jetst goalie hasn't won anything but some best goalie of the year awards thats not the cup

  12. as an oilers fan desperate for competent goaltending, i dont know whats worse. never finding a true starter or having the best goalie in the league who always falls apart in the playoffs

  13. The question that forms the title of the TSN video is a good one to ask as the Jets, over the past two games, haven’t had a very good answer to the hard, physical play the Blues have brought to them.

  14. I’m a jets fan however, Blues were playing well all series. I see the problems but they don’t. Blues are a heavier team and are pounding the jets. Helly needs to steal games but he’s playing the puck which he is not a puck handler. Team is not playing defence. However blues are stopping their speed in the neutral zone and hemming the jets in their zone

  15. I'm sorry, but Jets got lucky in both home games. Blues will be hitting them hard. I don't see Jets winning this series.

  16. Maybe it’s time for the media to stop making excuses for the Jets and give credit to the Blues who have been the hottest team in the NHL. Anyone who thought this would be a sweep was sadly mistaken

  17. Every analyst said this after game 3 too. "I think the break could help them a lot" and they did come out hot, but anytime the Jets deal with adversity, they just start blaming the refs and don't play their game

  18. What’s scary for the jets is, the 2 games at home weren’t blow outs like the wins the blues took. If the blues come out and play like they’re at home Wednesday, it could be series over for the jets.

  19. The jets may not have played well in STL. But the games in Winnipeg were also extremely close. It’s not like they fell off completely. I really think St Louis is just that good.
