Alexander Petrovic injured Connor Brown with this hit to the head. Brown did not return to the game. There was no penalty on the play.

  1. NHL is soft just like the people in the comments. You all would cry about a hit to the head during a pillow fight with your boyfriend.
    Waaaaaa shut up. 😂😂😂

  2. I don't believe penalties should be called in the playoffs except for drawing blood and head shots. If he had been ejected a 1 game suspension would be warranted but he wasn't so 2 games is appropriate.

  3. This is a must supension. Leans in, jumps off, only hits the head.
Otherwise you can just shut down DoPS.

@Tough Call – review the hit on Nuggent Hopkins from Bichsel. Is that boarding or not?

  4. Refs had a horrible game btw.
Kulak – delay of game before the 1:0, though it should not be a penalty, the rule says it is, but this one is hard to see.
Kapanen 2 mins – it`s Rantanens stick that hits himself.
Bichsel vs. RNH – that`s a clear push in the numbers, it should be boarding or int. or something.
Hit against the head of Brown
Whistled down a puck that was alive, Benn complained about it.

  5. Yeah who cares. If they arent gonna give Nurse anything it should be free and anything goes from now on…. LOL I acutally don't care but that TWO hand by Nurse…

  6. Oiler fan here .Browny is a smaller man. Got to keep your head up. It's playoffs. Tough game. Questionable if he jumped into him. Calls missed both ways. I say let it go and take a number and deal with it later. Play Labamba Baby.

  7. He jumps into the hit on a guy who doesn't even have possession . Charging, interference, illegal check to the head.

  8. I don't always agree with your calls, but i think you got this one right, mostly. Petro would have left his feet more obviously had he not hit Brown – Brown's head slowed his upward momentum. There was definite upward motion going into hit, and at least one of his blades has space beneath it just before contact. I would say 2-4 games. Having concussion training myself, and experience, I would be very surprised if Brown was back in this series.
On another note. It looks like there are some low life trolls in the comments saying things like embellishment and no head contact. Ignore them. They lack the ability to contribute meaningfully to society and deserve zero attention.

  9. That is about as illegal as a hit gets except a hit from behind. He jumped upwards leaving at least one of his skates so his feet weren't planted. His skate didn't leave the ice as a result of the hit. It was premeditated into the hit. If it was regular season he should get a big suspension. Because it's the playoffs and the playoffs should be competitive he should get a one game suspension and 40 lashes minus one.

  10. Stars know they can be goons. Because they know for sure bettman will let dirty hockey go. Refs take instructions from the nhl. And it is obvious every year the rules change in favor of the American based team. Its not even a debate anymore. Its become normalized. Petrovich clearly raised his shoulder purposely to get the head. They will be going afted skinner FOR SURE.

  11. If anyone thinks DOPS is gonna do anything right they need to give their head a shake. This is a suspension any day of the week except G.Parros himself took to many head shots and not making great decisions himself! That two hand axe chop by Pietrangelo last year should have been 10 games (in the playoffs) as intent to injure. Instead he gets 1…. Laughable league! Ekblad elbow/forearm shives to the head gets 1 game, yet he has done it every game since and no consequences. Give the guy 5 games in the playoffs and it will not happen again. PED’s should have gotten him a 2 year ban like any other sport! Just an F’ing joke he is doing!

  12. Like I always say with these. No use bitching about it. If you're going to make puck carriers or puck players responsible for how their body is positioned when they play the puck, and hitters not responsible for where their shoulder is when they make contact, this is what you get.

  13. I wish the NHL would include launching upwards during the check as part of the charging rule or something. We see so many of those kinds of hits resulting in avoidable head contact. Yet they get away with it, because they only left their feet during the hit.

  14. Left leg is already up and right going up as well, only limited by Browns head and body.
Ugly hit, obvious intent to injure someone who is playing a very good playoff series.
Imagine Edmonton prodeeding and Brown missing the finals with a concussion.
Ban these actions, no matter who hits und no matter who is hit.

  15. There you go stars you got your injury you were calling for and claimed the bounty
🙄 just got the wrong connor

  16. Brown never touched the puck , it was already by him. Then the shoulder to the head , and no penalty. Is this the best reffing Bettman can come up with .
Cheating refs for Florida and then this crap.

  17. George Paros is useless as the head of DoPS, simple as that. There have been so many these things where you see it and go "there should be something" and they do nothing, then there's others and you think there'll be nothing and a guy gets a fine. It's basically like they flip a damn coin when making any decisions.

  18. NHL says they want to eliminate head shots…hahaha. Once they pay out 10s of millions to players like the NFL did, then, and only then will it change. The didnt even call a major on the ice… refs missed that somehow?

  19. As on Oilers fan, I didn't have a problem with it, we've rocked guys like that. Watch the replay of Hyman hitting Petrangelo from behind last series. That was way more dangerous. It's the playoffs, these hits are gonna happen every game. Guys are cranking it to 11 and playing with a lot of emotion.

  20. you are absolutely correct. bad on refs. player safety, bettman. such a garbage organization in reality. worst crime may be that Oilers have not even hit petrovic once since the incident. real teams would have someone hit petrovic at least once to make Brown feel someone has his back. really lame to se this & know nobody on team is wiling to retaliate in any way.

  21. That was shoulder to body. Yes, the head does take some contact, but it was not the point of contact. Petro is a big dude so it looks worse.

  22. What do you mean 'close enough that he's eligible for contact'? Where in the rulebook does it say you can hit a guy when he's 'close to' the puck?

  23. Brown plays so timid that is why he is crushed. He never hits anyone nor uses his stick to protect himself. The team is stronger with him out of the lineup. If it was an issue why did no Oilers come to his defense.

  24. This was not a hockey play gone wrong Mr. Tough Call!! It was TOTALLY ON PURPOSE!!
It was so obvious in lieu of Darnell Nurse's slash on Roope Hintz who is out. That 2 Oilers now that are toast!
