Did Shanahan news change how you feel Leafs off-season will play out?

Brendan Shanahan’s time as president and alternate governor of the Maple Leafs has come to an end after the team announced it will not be renewing his contract this offseason. Will someone fill the Shanahan role as team president? Did today’s news change how you feel the Leafs off-season will go? TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

  1. Funny how everyone is dissing the Leafs and want everybody fired, and Carolina can barely score a goal against Florida much less take them to 7 games.

  2. For any business, there are management personnel that can take a company from point A to point B but no further. To go further, you need to bring in different management personnel. Shanahan got the Leafs up to 2nd round but no further, therefore, it is time for a change. Trick is to hire a new personnel that will take you further.

  3. i get that Shanahan is gone, along with Babcock,Dubas,Keefe, etc etc etc…bringing in new leadership, a new vision, a new voice etc etc etc…all this will not make Nylander back check in the biggest games of their lives, this wont make Matthews and Marner rise to the occasion of the moment. the problem is on the ice, and its not skill, its will. you can change anybody and everybody you want in the organization , but it wont make a lick of difference. Time to make core 4 changes first….then go from there.

  4. I think that the timing is the first stupid move by Pelley. Shanahan has the leaguewide respect of NHL players. Pelley does not. Makes the Leafs look more Corporate than Player centric. Very confusing. Not confident in Pelley's judgement. Adding some turmoil right before free agency is madness unless this is a last ditch effort to sign Marner if there is division there. Smarten up Pelley.

  5. Shanahan should have been gone 4 years ago along with Dubas and Keefe after that total gutless collapse against the Canadiens in the playoffs. I blame MSLE. They are culprits in everything. They hired Shanahan with ZERO experience. Instead of hiring Mark Hunter as his GM he hires another guy with ZERO experience and this is what you get. Regular season success and horrid lack of killer instinct playoff failure.

  6. This is how the Leafs have managed to keep this core together. Lou Lam…. Stated This core isn’t good enough. Imagine it’s not. Media also needs a core check. Every year they praise the leafs changes. TSN needs to hold the media accountable.

  7. Roy, Bergevin and Shanahan on the same page? Ouf, that's a lot of ginormous egos at the table! Lol…

  8. "They didn't even come close to going deep" what's deep, semi finals or finals? (just curious what deep means)

  9. I think treliving is doing a good job, he had a mess to clean up and deserves to continue. Berube is a great coach he should continue as well.

  10. so far as Tre is concerned, I read if differently. I think post shanahan he has even more say than he did before, he knows it, and the last thing he feels right now is job insecurity. in 2025 everything good about the leafs has Tre's fingerprints on it.

  11. Everytime the leafs get kicked out of playoffs , i get the feeling the playoffs are over, all they talk about is the same crap everyyear,

  12. Leafs fans: at least you made a 7-game series of it. We look to be swept—again. Leafs made a much better series out of it than we are doing. We’re both of course facing media and fan derision. I really wanted my Canes to play the Leafs. It would have been a good series. Good luck next season. Sincerely.

  13. Change from the top is a start! Now it is time to dismantle the Core 4, and release a few bottom 6 players. Than add to the roster, individuals with a killer instinct, a winners attitude, sacrifice, and accountability! It is paramount, that the Leafs vision, to be in the Finals for the Stanley Cup, is within the next 1-3 years? Realistic and attainable.

  14. Yes its a time for Shana plan to go by keith Pelle cutting ties with him after 11 years so to hope Brad Trevling and Berrube will add the necceary pieces of grit and touhness on Forward and on defence to be able to go to the promise land where they want to too win the cup the way the playoffs are tougher now with more heavy hitting and energy all the way to the Stanley Cup.
