Yzerman's understudy (Verbeek) just may end up making his mentor look pretty bad soon lol
As a Red Wings fan if I were Marner I would go to Las Vegas.
More tax friendly better climate, great fan base.
It seems the major makes the most sense destination.
LAK or ANA not exactly a low tax situation. What is the top tax rate in CA? 14%. What better way to stick it to TOR than to drive a few hours down the 401 to DET? If he can’t handle getting boo’ed twice a year then maybe he does have the makeup of a leader to take a team to the Cup.
I guess fla rather resing Marchand and Bennet than Marner
California teams have no chance at Marner. No top free agents is going there it makes no sense. Horrible market for all the teams, worst tax state, 50% poverty rate and blue state. No one wants to go there by choice.
Not only for the taxes, the climate is nice too.
Welcome to Vegas Mitch
I think the fact that Detroit is so close to Toronto is the reason he will choose there – Especially with a young child and his family being there. Highly doubt he would want to move across the country
Welcome to Chicago Mitch! You’d look great next to Bedard!
If he really wants Florida or Vegas, it's not because he wants "no state tax" (Florida has had no tax for decades now), he wants "guaranteed success". I'm not gonna go work in Florida because I don't want income tax, I'd go work in Florida because I want to work for a successful company there. When the Panthers suck again — and remember, there's an ebb and flow to all this, so they will suck again — you'll see players adding them to their no-trade lists and not signing there til they're good again.
In order to get Marner, Vegas would likely have to clear a player, and let go of several depth free agents. I don’t think that it’s logical for them to do it.
Florida’s gotta resign Ekblad and Marner would mean bye-bye Marchand and Bennett.
This is unless Marner decides to take a 1X5. Then he’s going to Florida for a cup.
