Why Leon Draisaitl’s Defensive Game Makes Them Impossible To Beat

Leon Draisaitl stated he wanted to improve defensively after years of having a poor defensive reputation. As you could expect, he did it unbelievably well. But, how?

Thank you so much for watching!
I don’t know who actually reads this deep into the description but I appreciate you more than most for actually doing that. You’re just hella academic and one could say you’re a bit of a book worm.

  1. great video just a friendly comment that it would help me a lot if you could label the players youre focussing on at the start of the clip before it rolls so we can really tune into your analysis. thanks for the videos keep em comin

  2. do something on Hyman…..he had an average of under 0.9 Hits per game during the season (total 59hit) and now had 34 hits during the last four gmaes against LA. That is 8.5 on average which is nuts.

  3. I know people always default to Sid or Barkov, but this year Leon might be the most complete player. I doubt he can keep it up going forward, but he was one of the best players offensively, defensively, and mentally. He has a great stick, a great shot, a great pass, is dominant at keeping the puck and taking the puck, uses his body almost better than anybody at protecting the puck, and is great at communicating with his teammates. Literally his only drawback this year is that he isn't as fast as most elite players.

  4. This video is good but the last statement is wayyy off. Leon has been great with Connor for years and you made it sound like he just got hot

  5. You said he has gotten slower as he approaches 30 years old. Respectfully, I disagree. He actually improved his footspeed this year – he's skating faster, gets up to speed quicker & is more agile than ever before.

  6. To me Drai’s most impressive asset is his IQ. Doesn’t look like he’s trying sometimes but makes amazing plays

  7. 3:10 is my favorite part of his game. I think this video summed up so many great points, differently for each, but I think the IQ is the most important and fascinating when watching Drai. He’s always a few steps ahead of the play, his instinct for what other guys are going to do helps him intercept so many passes. He’s incredible to watch. My only complaint about this video is that Youtube waited till now to push me your channel😂 Awesome breakdown! Really enjoyed watching this. I knew some points were coming and learned a nice bit too 🙂 Pleasure to hit that sub button

  8. All EDM needs is a Gustav Forsling and a Shesterkin and I can see them winning the cup. Eklholm is good but injury prone and old and Skinner Piccard combo is risky.

  9. Keep in mind drai's idol growing up was datsyuk. And datsyuk was amazing and anticipating takeaways. His style in defence is similar to Pavel's. The thing he has over his idol though is his size.

  10. Jeff Skinner catching strays… man, I really wanted that guy to succeed in Edmonton.

Drai is seriously underrated tho. he always gets dismissed as a "product of McDavid" but like. yeah, literally anyone can benefit playing next to Davo. but Connor also benefits from playing next to Drai. they're amazing players individually, but their chemistry and teamwork elevates them. and Drai ends up being overlooked, a lot of the time, but he's truly a beast, and deserves the recognition.

  11. First we got Nowitzki in the NBA.
Now we have Draisaitl in the NHL.
    Two MVPs.
    Dirk got his ring.
Leon will get his Championship, too.

    💪🏼🇩🇪🇨🇦

  12. as long as Calvin Pickard is playing every 7 shot on goal will find it's way behind the net
