Overpaying for Sam is dangerous. Its unlikely he is gonna explode in point totals and if your team is losing then Sam has no value at all. Aslong as the team keeps winning you can overlook a lot of things. But Sam is not worth more than 8 mill.

Bill Zito has proven he can find players when their value is at the lowest with the likes of Verhaeghe, Forsling, Bennett, Jones, give them the opportunity to play meaningful minutes, and eventually create a long waiting list of teams waiting to sign them to big contracts. You aren't going to beat us when you're always playing catchup and trying to replicate our same success with the same guys. Same thing happened with Montour, Marchment, Ekman-Larsson, etc. It takes a full team, not one guy to carry the load.
You guys talk about his regular season production with a MASSIVE disregard for his playoff production. He has 9 goals after game 2 of the ECF. I would easily pay Bennett over Marner, half of the production in the regular season and 9x more goals in the post season (I’m being generous to Mitch since it’s difficult to multiply a number by zero)

Bennett's agent is really pulling out all his tricks on Bennett's next deal. 100% guaranteed this comes straight from him. I get it. Bennett performs in the playoffs, but this is a 50 point player. He's a winner who goes to the hard areas and is a physical player as well. On top of that he has shown that he ups his game significantly in the playoffs…He could get some teams with 20+ million in cap space to think this is exactly who we need, get it done by any means necessary.
