Lol the final against Pittsburgh disputes this
Pekka said in a podcast that he loved hockey since he was a child, but for example, in his teens he didn't train at all for one summer because he wanted to hang out with his friends. It wasn't until he was closer to 18 that he put everything on the line and I remember correct only then did he move to the best junior team in the area. Also, when scouts came to Finland to watch him play, he didn't even play, but he gave everything in the warm-ups. He also wasn't drafted until he was 22. He believed that one of the reasons why he got so far in his career was that he was allowed to grow and mature as an athlete in peace.
There was barely a 1.5 year span when he had a case for 'most dominant'… Shame they flatlined against the Pens in 2017. That was a terrible verdict.
What a menace
I’ve heard some bad pronunciations of Finnish names, but 'Pekka Rene' is definitely one of the worst ever.
Edelleen harmittaa Stanley Cup finaalien häviäminen Pittsburghille 2017 😢
I used to play hockey when I was a child, but at a certain point my parents had to tell me that unfortunately they could not afford my hobby anymore.
When I was young, I managed to play with players like Jussi Jokinen and Pekka Rinne. I saw Pekka decades later while his NHL career was still going on. It was nice to see that Pekka was still the same boy I remembered him as, very pleasant, polite, and kept his feet on the ground.
During and after his career, Pekka has also helped young people with the same problem that my poor family once experienced, because he pays for the equipment of juniors so that they have the opportunity to play hockey.
carpet 🤣🤣🤣
Im pretty sure the scout came to watch some other player and saw Rinne in the warmups, and thats how he got drafted
Why do you english speakers always butcher every name with pride? Just fucking listen how it is pronounced and repeat it's not rocket science!
Secret ingredient: He's Finnish
This makes me tear up
I live in Kempele xD
fyi, its Juuse, not juics, Saros
Pegga Riné 😅
Goat
lmao was this made by AI?
Even Rask was better than Rinne
I would add also here that he played one last game for his childhood club Kiekko-Ketut in this (24-25) season, after four years of his retirement. They also froze on that night his legendary number #35. In finnish 3rd division he recorded 7-2 win, 44 saves and 95,65%
Pecorino is amazing.
🐐🐐
A true lion heart. He of all the goalies that didnt win a cup, really deserved a cup.
