WE NOW KNOW WHAT THE MONTREAL CANADIENS’ BIGGEST PROBLEM IS…

[Music] yeah today I wanted to get all philosophical on y’all because what I wanted to do was focus on the Montreal Canadians and what’s really going on here what is the real problem with the Habs in 2024 2025 is there even a problem is this a big deal I will say part of the reason we are making this video is because I feel like there’s been a sense of panic with the Canadians fan base the past few weeks that has built up after an off season that I think most Canadians fans would say was a good one they drafted Ivan demidov they got Patrick l they resigned some guys they did some very good things to build for their future but the Habs this season have not gotten off to a hot start they’ve been very inconsistent they have not been winning too many games and quite frankly I feel like even though the Canadians are objectively a better team a lot of the guys that are here on this team that are supposed to be top guys are better than they were let’s say two years ago or 3 years ago maybe last year you could say that Suzuki and Coffield and slavkovsky maybe some of these guys were a bit better last year but some of the other results from this year you can’t really argue I mean Cole Coffield scoring the lights out that’s not something that he did last year y lovsky okay maybe he’s looking a little bit worse Nick Suzuki maybe he’s looking a little bit worse but at the end of the day it’s another year of progression for a lot of these these guys in the HS and they think despite that there’s a bigger more growing sentiment of pessimism around the fan base why is that where is that coming from what’s the real problem with the Canadians let’s go out there and refer to a tweet made by Brian wild where he goes out there and promotes an article that he wrote on globalnews.ca this is the Call of the Wild article focusing mostly on the historical perspective of a rebuild hint it’s not done at the start of year 3 you could pretty much infer what wild is talking about here by saying that the Montreal Canadians at the start of the third year of this rebuild are bad yes but at the start of the third year of a rebuild you’re not supposed to be great so wild made this article and I wanted to read to you a tweet made by my buddy Hattie who went out there and responded to this idea too to Echo Brian’s point in 2013 the Toronto M beliefs got ousted in 7 by Boston effectively marking the start of their rebuild in 2014 to 2016 the Leafs pick neander Marner and Matthews back to back in 2025 to 2027 the NHL drafts have impressive top end Talent so there’s no rush for the Montreal Canadians you got to remember for Montreal they made the finals in 2021 okay fantastic they lost fine who cares 2022 they go out there and use their first round pick to select Yuri lvovsky first overall Guy start of the rebuild great in 2023 the Montreal Canadians use their fifth overall pick to select Ryan Boer okay maybe not the ideal pick but he was still there 2024 Ivan debie Dov to compare this timeline with the Toronto Maple leavs it took them 4ish years to fully get back into the swing of things and start being competitive again for the Canadians it’s kind of the beginning of the third year so there still is a bit more development to be had Hattie then goes out there and replies saying that everything the havs need to pull off this rebuild is effectively there loads of picks good scouting great Player Development A young roster that’ll lose enough games to keep adding top talent while facing adversity as a group and Veterans willing to teach why is everybody panicking and what I love about Hattie is the self-reflection that he frequently does because he then replied to this tweet saying this I’ve come to a conclusion about why some Habs fans are frust at they want to be entertained I don’t blame those of you that this applies to the HS were bad last year but still very entertaining now they’re just bad it feels like regression and this is probably the most agreeable part of the entire conversation the Habs being bad is one thing but the Habs being unwatchable is another seeing some of the top guys like Nick Suzuki like yurovsky not really be as effective visually as they have been in the past is quite daunting seeing Kirby dock go through a little bit of a rough patch after some good stretches is kind of daunting seeing the defensive structure completely break down and the team rely on Lane Hudson a firste rookie to do things that nobody else on this team can do is kind of concerning and then seeing every other defenseman not named Lan Hudson not be able to hold up their end of the bargon defensively is also concerning for sure so the Montreal Canadians have enough problems and have enough aspects that you can say are disappointing compared to the expectations that it makes the overall product that much worse because Montreal while they weren’t supposed to necessarily be better than they were last year they were already kind of fun to watch last year so at least maintaining that level of fun whilst maybe getting a few extra wins here and there would have been the preferred outcome for this season at the beginning of the year but there are so many warts and so many problems that they still have not been able to iron out that it feels a lot worse than last year a reply by Gabriel goes out there and says this fans can accept that the team is losing what’s troubling is how most of the young Corp outside of Hudson has been playing worse than last season yes Coffield scored goals but his defensive play has been abysmal like the rest of the top six Kirby do new hook Suzuki guys have not necessarily been great even though they were supposed to take a step forward because I think traditionally people look at younger guys in the NHL and they say yeah oh he’s 24 years old he’s going to be better next year he’s going to be even more crazy next year he’s going to get more points next year usually we think about progression as a linear thing but that’s not really the case when talking about professional hockey athletes at the highest level sure I’d say the majority of hockey players go through some sort of a rough linear development where they slowly get better year by year maybe sometimes they’ll have a down year and then they’ll explode even further afterwards but it’s just kind of unfortunate for Montreal that the down year seems to be affecting multiple guys in the top six at the same time which makes it feel like there is some stagnation and some backwards progression here even though rebuilds take time and I don’t think anybody was really considering Montreal to be a playoff lock in 2025 anyway even though cooler heads prevailing will say with a rational mind hey they’re not supposed to be great them losing games is actually good because they up their chances at getting the first overall pick again and by the time 2025 2026 rolls around hopefully you get past those slower developments and you’re able to get better so I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below firstly what do you think about this idea do you think the real problem with the Canadians isn’t necessarily that they’re bad but that they’re boring that the team isn’t presenting much entertainment value on the ice outside of the occasional Cole Coffield goal and the occasional Lane Hudson whoopy dooo at the Blue Line what are your thoughts on the Canadian’s quality of play in terms of being entertaining or engaging to watch as a fan base and do you think it’s worse than it was last season do you think this plays into the Canadians fan base at the moment and how it feels a little bit more Doom and Gloom than it did last season let me know your thoughts in the comment section below how do you feel about Canadians fans psyche psychology and what are your thoughts on how the team is impacting these factors is this really that big of a deal because if you think at the end of this video you watch the entire thing through if you’re thinking to yourself yeah this doesn’t really matter like the Canadians are still going to be the Canadians whether or not they suck in 24 25 or if they don’t if this doesn’t matter then hey you can let me know your thoughts in the comments section below about that as well but the Munch Canadians yay or nay entertaining or boring is this the biggest problem at the moment let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this 99 and bye [Music] a [Music]

  1. like vancouver, the fan base in montreal is an impatient one. it seems like they haven't fully committed to a rebuild or a retool.

  2. To me it seems like St. Louis has lost the room.

It’s understandable, he gives ice time to players who do not deserve ice time, which is the other player see. Players sat for no apparent reason.

My favourite St. Louis move is breaking up the first line Why would he do that? It was a legitimate first line.

And Wi-Fi should never be out of the lineup. Unless we want our players beaten up. Lane Hutson could be ruined by St. Louis with the amount of ice time he’s getting. He skates really well but he needs time.

  3. Not everyone is panicking. Problem is the whiniest Aholes are who the media and bloggers listen too. They thrive on views and controversy.

  4. Last year the games were a lot closer and the habs had some fight in them by keeping games close. It was also great to see Slaf's progression. This year I don't see any of that

  5. They are the worst team in the league, that's the problem.
But it's more that you know they will lose because they can't defend to save their lives.

  6. Martin was not ready for this job. Rebuilding this moribund bunch needs a coach with experience and presence. Martin looks overwhelmed a lot. Time to take action.

  7. WE HAVE A WHOLE BUNCH OF MIDGET PLAYERS NOBODY HITS ANYBODY THEY ARE SO NERVOUS AND DONT KEEP THE PUCK GET RID OF IT ALL THE TIME DUMPING THE PUCK WHEN YOUR PLAYYERS ARE A BUNCH OF MIDGET IS THE WORST OF IDEA. iF I WAS THE COACH AND I SAW A DEFENSEMAN PASSING THE PUCK ON THE BOARD WHEN THE WINGER ALREADY HAS A MAN ON HIM I WOULD SIT HIM FOR THE REST OF THE GAME .IF THEY ARE NOT TALENTED ENOUGH TO SKATE AND MAKE A NICE PAS TO AN OPEN PLAYER THEN SEND THEM TO THE MINORS.THE SECOND THE THIRD AND THE FOURTH LINE NEVER SCORE, ON POWER PLAY TAKE NUMBER 8 AND MAKE HIM A FORWARD RT WING THAT WAY HE WONT LOOSE THE PUCK AT THE BLUE LINE, AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DONT PUT SAVARD ON THE ICE 4 AGAINST 5 HE CANT MOVE , HE IS BLINDING THE GOALY HE'S SO FAT ,HE'S LIKE A BIG TURTLE ON THE ICE.THE PROBLEM IS YOU GOT 6 PLAYERS RIGHT NOW THE REST ARE ALL THE SAME : CAUFIELD, SUZUKI, LANE HUDSON, DACK, KUHLE, JACKY YOUR IN TROUBLE ALL THOSE SUPOSED YOUNG PLAYERS YOU CHOSE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A SECOND LINE, MEANWHILE IN THE MINORS YOU HAVE MAILLOUX AND ROY , REINBACKER THAT ARE BETTER THAN WHAT YOU HAVE UPSTAIRS, RT NOW YOU PLAY WEAKER THAN LAST YEAR. ITS TERRIBLE TO WATCH. I CHANGE CHANNEL AND WATCH THE HIGHLIGHTS ONLY.

  8. Goalies are our problem 100% 5goals on 18shots today… N it was Buffalo not even a good team lol we went from Roy to Theodore to huet to price…. To nobody for like 8years now

  9. Breaking up the lines is not a bad thing. Caufield, Suzuki and slafkovsky isn’t bad. Last year, that was the only line they had. Now they have to bring Gallagher back into the top 2 lines

  10. The Montreal crowd is panicking because of what was said at the training camp where the internal expectations where to be in the mix, It's more a disappointment due to it not being quick rebuild. We forget it took The Avs a decade to win a cup after drafting Mckinnon, and Slaf is far from being that caliber of a player even if he is a good player in his own right. I think the outlier was last year not this year… Our defense is still way to inexperienced, and we are lacking in global offensive tools even if we have good pieces… then there is the goalie situation where realistically we pay both of our goalies less than 4 millions combined. Habs are where they belong standing & performance wise,

  11. The problem is: slafkovsky isn’t the presence he was last year, dach is awful defensively and bad offensively, xhekaj is a non-factor and hasn’t been great defensively, Savard and Matheson have had troubles defensively newhook isn’t doing much our overall defensive structure is at one of its worse points in the last 3 years

  12. In my eyes, losing is not what bothers me. The problem, from my perspective, is that some players don’t seem to play at the levels they are capable of. They don’t have to beat the opponent; they have to avoid preventable mistakes. I like the idea that “fans want to be amused,” and it correlates with the idea that we (fans) don’t want to see plays that look like the players don’t care.

  13. A comeback isnt necessary if we had a decent goalie. Na na na na, hey hey good bye Primeau.

  14. Caufield and Hutson, the two shortest guys in the team do the show. The dwarfs delivers, where are the Giants ?

  15. the problem is any fan who says the word rebuild isnt a true habs fan. yea i said it!!! habs with the right management or owners get guys who play hard & give winning a chance every night… i know bergeron screwed us with these contracts & players, but its the owner who hired the him & let him run the show & its the new gm & coaches who keep playing these scrubbs ( savard , armia , devorak, gallagher, anderson, mathison & so on ) let the roys & owen becks play !!!! stick them others in the booth or buy them out

  16. They have a terrible set of goalies and Mike Matheson who’s supposed to be their first defenceman is terrible at playing defence and also he is a turnover machine

  17. What Montreal needs is to draft a big talented Canadian with there 1st round pick.
There’s going to be several Canadians in the top 10 this year.
I don’t know if many are big.

  18. It was a fun game today. goalies were god awful for both teams but it was fun. I don't think we will be a contender anytime soon with Monty or Primeau. Habs gotta score 6 goals to win because you know the goalies will let in 5.

And yes. They were not bringing the entertainment and trying. You can't be charging 275 dollars a ticket. 375 a jersey. 16 dollars a hot dog and 27 dollars a bear and expect fans to tolerate this for 4 years. We are not Arizona. We are the Habs and they have expectations to uphold. The fans are mad and they have every right to be.

  19. It's all about goatending They don't have it… Put primo on waivers no one's gonna grab him and bring up the goalie from the farm system

  20. If Michael Hage was available in 2025 draft, would he be considered as top10?

Also, is Hage superior as a center to Ivan Ryabkin or Michael Misa or Antin Frondell ?

Finally, who has most upside in their draft year:
    Caleb Desnoyers 2025
    or Sasha Boivert 2024 ?

  21. Problem is Hughes drafting and trading all bad players except last year (by luck) and Hutson.

Barron, Reinbacher, Masar, Newhook, and drafting offensive player in defensive drating pool year. Etc. Just bad mistakes.
