  1. Pittsburgh could only protect 1 goalie and they literally HAD to protect Murray because he was a rookie. (1-2 year players were not allowed to be drafted, and hence protected by default) It wasn't a choice, but then they decided to try to ensure that Fleury would be the player selected by making that deal, which was idiotic.

  2. I find it funny about the Lady Bing votes because he really wanted to have a fight at some point in his career (that and a goalie goal).

  3. I live in Las Vegas. I LOVED Fluery‼️ Split season pass for 3 yrs. Sat above him. I was constantly screaming his name. I can’t believe they treated and traded him. For poc Lehner. That was Peter who didn’t like Fluery. Peter was horrible to Fluery. I’m still really mad about it. I hope he never gets a cup. In the past he can’t seem to win the cup.
    Go Oilers‼️ Go Panthers‼️

  4. The Flower is such a unique player, he had a knack for being able to play at such a low level and then in some of the bigger moments just absolutely lock in to a level of play very few goalies can reach. Absolutely hall of fame worthy though, the Penguins probably dont win any cups without him

  5. I’ll never forget the save he made on Lidstrom to get revenge on Detroit and win the cup in 2009 legendary experience!

  6. Love Fleury, but lets be honest, there were better goalies in the league that never achieved these laurels simply because they never played for the right team. Matt Fk'en Murray beat him out when Andre was at his prime. Really? …very curious career, but love him just like I loved doug Favell!

  7. Flower indeed faced quite a lot of doubters and critics early on; I remember well all the discussions about him being a choker in the playoffs. But, boy, did he show them! And in all of this, one shouldn't ever forget the impact this guy had in the locker room. Legendary pranks, knowing not just how to give but also how to receive. A great goalie and a great human. So long, Flower!

  8. As a Sharks fan : didn't liked him, not missing him at all but a great career and a HoF member for sure

  9. A classic goalie redemption story. I think he played in the World Juniors for a stacked Canadian team and they lost; moreover, he sat down on the puck knocking in the winning goal. He was already drafted, highly touted, but his confidence was crushed coming into the NHL. Goalies need to be resilient. He checks that box. He is a fierce competitor on the ice and chill off it: what teammates want in a goalie. Thanks for the Cups! Enjoy your retirement Flower.

  10. 7:15 I feel like we’re missing a key piece of context here on why MAF only played 2 postseason games that year bc he suffered a season ending concussion and then couldn’t play until game 4 of the ECF due to concussion symptoms before they went back to the hot hand of Matt Murray (who is also probably one of the greatest what if stories in and of himself with his concussion and injury history and the passing of his father also affecting his game)

  11. 8:20 also added context that Matt Murray was been better than MAF in these playoffs as well and the only reason why MAF played as many games as he did was because of Murray’s own concussion issues. 22 year old Murray at this point was being groomed to be the 1A while 32 year old MAF was the 1B. He did a great job holding the fort while Murray was out but they went back to their starter after two poor Fluery starts (not really his fault) and Murray never looked back

  12. Vegas was very fortunate to have Marc-Andre. It’s a shame we didn’t keep him until the end of his career.

  13. Flower was the reason why I've become a Pens fan. I'm gonna miss him, thanks for the memories 🌺💕.

  14. I remember all the questions about his playoff credibility even after winning a cup. It never really went away until he took the Knights on that epic run. Great goalie and seems a genuinely great guy. Another legend leaves the ice. 😊
