  1. to anyone who calls Hank dirty: SHOVE IT UP YOUR BLOODY ASS! He's got a Conn Symthe Trophy, a Stanley Cup ring, two oympic metals, a world championship metal, and he was voted the 5th cleanest player in the leauge by THE PLAYERS! Kiss my ass, Penguins and Hawks fans!

  2. Ahhh the class of pittsburgh, and malkin. Swinging his stick like it a sword (and not for the first time). People give philly a bad wrap, but the pens are just a bunch of fucking goons, cheap shot artists, divers and whingers. Even now they are the 2nd most penalised team and the 4th for fighting majors. Oozing class…

  3. Evgeni Malkin instigated a fight in the final 5 minutes of a game. Under NHL rules, that is an automatic one game suspension. Malkin was NOT suspended for the next game, which the Penguins ended up winning. If he was suspended, I can guarantee that the Red Wings would've won Game 3.

To me, this is the NHL (specifically that idiot Gary Bettman) stepping in and saying, "We need to get Sidney Crosby a Cup so badly, we have to do everything in our power to make sure the Penguins win this series. The Red Wings are just too good for them, so let's keep one of Pittsburgh's best players in the lineup, even though he should be suspended." The league clearly shows favoritism for the Penguins today, and have been ever since Cindy Crybaby came into the league. It is pathetic.

  4. "I like the response from Malkin" Shut the fuck up announcer. His response was classic crybaby bitch; acting out because the Pens were to losing, and "defended" his dumbass teammate that pushed Osgood over after the whistle blew.

  5. This is without question the most embarrassing moment in NHL history, not because of the actions taken by Malkin, but because of the league's response to it.

The situation: Detroit is leading 3-1 in Game 2 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals, less than a minute away from taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

The event: Malkin swings at Zetterberg for no reason, all Zetterberg does is push Talbot (and deservedly so) for spearing his goaltender. With Malkin swinging away, Zetterberg has no choice but to fight back. The officials obviously give Malkin an instigator penalty in this situation, which is definitely the correct thing to do.

The immediate aftermath: Because Malkin was assessed an instigator penalty in the final 5 minutes of regulation or overtime, he will be required to serve an AUTOMATIC one-game suspension. But league officials, Colin Campbell (but probably because Bettman told him to do so), decided Malkin was not sending a message (which after watching this video, might be the most ignorant statement ever made), and does not deserve to be suspended for Game 3. In other words, Campbell was saying the Red Wings are about to take a stranglehold on this series, we have to do something to make sure this series goes beyond 4 or 5 games to get good ratings.

The short-term aftermath: In Game 3, the Penguins win 4-2; the fourth goal was an empty-netter in the final minute. Other than that, Malkin assisted on ALL THREE goals by Pittsburgh. Without him, the Penguins do not win Game 3, and instead the Red Wings would take a 3-0 lead in the series en route to winning the series 4-1 in Game 5 on home ice, following their 5-0 massacre of the Penguins in that game. But instead, the non-suspension proves to be the difference in the series and the Penguins don't win the Cup, but instead get it handed to them by the league.

The long-term aftermath: Instead of Detroit becoming the first team to repeat as champions since they themselves did it in 1997 and 1998 and also claiming their 12th Stanley Cup in franchise history, Pittsburgh unfairly wins their third championship. For Detroit's Marián Hossa, who was on a one-year contract with the Red Wings, he decides to leave the team. He likely remains with the Red Wings if the win the Cup. Instead, Hossa signs with the Chicago Blackhawks for 12 seasons. So not only does this embarrassing moment unfairly jump start the Penguins run of excellence, it also indirectly helps the Blackhawks get their winning ways started again too, all while hurting Detroit beyond explanation. Neither Chicago nor Pittsburgh would be nearly as good as they are today (I doubt either would have more than one championship since this moment), and Detroit's decline would not happen until a few seasons later.

  6. Zetterbergs smartness and gamesense is so high. Without z this final serie Pits would have won. Zetterberg owned Crosby so damn good defensive

  7. Great brawl, I wish the arena DJ at the Joe would've played after the fight, Ship'em out to Boston – dropkick Murphy's

  8. малкин как всегда…позор россии!не настоящий русский,с гнильцой…одно радует,поделом!заслужил,а кто не прав видно,потому и вгреб!поделом!!!!!!!!

  9. Obviously Malkin did not know the rules and the NHL admins helped him out in understanding his "intent/feelings" and justifying him playing in game 3 without a suspension. So yes old news, but young fans watching this need to know how these regulations work so they will be able to understand and pass knowledge onto others. All NHL fans need to come to a consensus that rules are rules (final 5 minute antagonist scruff = instigator penalty) and not just some bendy allowance when the timing is bad because the league wants to market itself for TV ratings.

  10. This changed the series entirely, Malkin should have got a 1 game suspension for instigating a fight in the final five minutes. DET likely goes up 3-0 in Pittsburgh instead of 2-1.

  11. Literally no harm no foul Zets and Geno just two superstars trying to get their team fired up…. gotta love the passion from both players

  12. This series was absolutely rigged by the refs. I can't remember a bigger differential in 5 on 3 penalty minutes. And the calls were weak. The NHL wanted their precious new Gretzky to win.
