  1. Martone is not a bad skater by any means, he gets around well for a guy his size its just not one of his standout skills

  2. He could be tyler/taylor raddysh
Hagens could be anywhere between zach parise and jack hughes. Either way, sharpen your darts coz pick 3 on down could be anybody, and they all could bust out

  3. I'll take skating over size. Hagens might be the best skater in this class. Was projected #1 overall, but dropped off because other players started to shine and he had some what of a "disappointing" draft year, but not really, he went point per game with Boston, then +2 with USA. He'd be a steal at #3!

Martone on the other hand is a good player, but he's got average skating. Do we really need to draft average skating at #3? Personally, I don't think so. "He's got size!" And? We have players with size, especially on the blue line, and we'll get more with the later picks/FA. I'm more interested in the size of the persons heart, not their physical size.

  4. Does he have the Tkachuck jam that the Flames and Senators found in the early first round? Or is Desnoyers the skill grit and finish that Center behind Connor Bedard needs in the playoffs. Hagens can't be the wrong answer. In the end, trust in Davidson, the picks they have made are starting to become men who are ready to compete in the NHL. 🔮

  5. Porter Martone is more talented than Dylan Strome. If he hits his ceiling he could be a premiere offensive player in the NHL.

  6. Everybody is talking about “Hagens or Martone”. Don’t sleep on Anton Frondell. Also wouldn’t be shocked if the Hawks select O’Brien

  7. You always take the best player available and that is James Hagen . Hell , I would take Jake O'Brien or Caleb Dasnoyers over Porter Martone. You can always trade Hagens later for a proven power forward type or sign a free agent when your ready to win if that's the missing piece

  8. 1) Misa, 2) Hagens (more top-tier talent screw size {messed up with Demidov}), 3) Frondell (best one timer in draft, FO win rate, defense, only 17 yo 6’+ growing and can play C or LW), 4) Martone (questionable desire worries me but a goalie screener is something hawks always need), 5) Desnoyers (meh good overall but a master of none) and then either Cootes, Kindel or even Ravensbergen with the 2nd first rounder.

I’m leaning Frondell. I like the idea of having Frondell and Bedard switching between faceoffs depending on importance (who’s hot)and both having incredible shots to one-time goals. Frondell might develop into a Toews/Hossa hybrid. Hagens might be more like a Saad/Teräväinen.

Demidov would have been a bigger Panarin. I see Levshunov as maybe a Sergachev which is not great for that high a pick.

  9. Martone doesnt sound thrilling when STROME is mentioned , low energy , slow motion. Caleb Desnoyer's is playing hurt . Caleb is a great two way player a safe pick and we need a great two way Center with size 6' 2" .
